-- Freespace: escape from reality? (http://volitionwatch.papageorgefamily/vwbb/showthread.php?threadid=8435)

Question Freespace: escape from reality?

The everyday life have become boring for some people and many seek a place where they can be someone else. Play another person/character far from the tedious exsistence that some people have.

Therefor they seek to play computer games, which are perfect to build up a world where things are more clear to them and people around them, make more sence than the ordinary world.

Some become so attached to the world they take part in online, that it becomes a addiction for them, and they cannot wait to play with their character again.

So my question to you all...
Does this "Escape from reality" go for Freespace or is it only other computer games? (such as roleplaying games etc.)

I guess it is for some people... but still, everyone needs to get away for a while sometimes...

this is an interesting topic. Let me see.

I may not be the best person to comment this, cause I don't play PC games because I have a boring life, but because they are fun, and some have good storylines.

But anyhow, when it comes to Freespace, I don't think that is possible. I mean, freespace is the most characterless game of all time. You put yourself a pilot name, but from there on, you are referred to as Alpha 1, and the story... well, except from some points, what you do doesn't really affect the outcome.

so no.

There is no escape from reality. It's everywhere! Arghh!!!

Serioulsy, well, I've tried video games for that, and the results were somewhat disasterous. Unfortunately, the demands of reality keep pushing me back, and I get drawn too close to video games if I use them as an "escape from reality". My grades went bad and my parents were totally pissed at me. I don't think I can use video games as an "escape from reality" until I'm well into my retirement. Then I'll be able to do what I want...hehe...
