Post Review in Pelit

lo all

i just found out that in this month Pelit gaming magazine is review of TBP.

Its very positive review.

Posted by pera on 11-16-2001 09:38 PM:

Yeah, I read it too, they basically praised the graphics, sound, music and voice acting, and complained about the storytelling and mission design. But overall, it was a very positive rewiev.

I was actually talking with the writer of that review.

He actually only complained about the missions and that the mod is too much action based. Well, this is the first release and with only five mission campaign, it's pretty hard to get a decent storyline to five missions. (was there anything else?)

He praised the graphics, voiceactor's, sound effects & music (good job IceFire) and other stuff which I don't now remember.

Review as a technology demo judged by the graphics, sound & music he gave a 10+. In the future he wants to see how does our team handle the storyline making and mission designing...

[edit]Damn it pera, you were faster than me...

yep, please do your best to bring that review to all non-finnish people here

complained about missions ? ICEFIRE ! YOU WORTHLESS CANADIAN SCUM !!!!!!!!

Well , there is a difference between a storyboard writer and a mission designer.

Storyboard writer goes for amosphere , mission designer goes for balancing. IceFire is then a damned good balancer and Fred 2 artist but a lousy storyboard writer.

Damn , we don't have good writers ! Personally I don't think I am bad , but it's my first try for a campaign storyboard and therefore I have never done something that got recommended.

Hmm . That's a damned big resonsibility . I promise I will do the best I can.
Where is this AoG non-canon summary of EA Civil war battles ?
I just want t olook at it.

I'll take it as a compliment. The balancing was very difficult to achieve and the mission possibilities for the Earth Minbari war are somewhat limited. I mean, most of what we saw in ITB was the Earth Alliance getting the crap kicked out of it. So we had to improvise and I'm happy with the result.

They are right to criticise the missions for being a little flat because they are and Skullar is definately a better storyboard writer than I am....so when all is said and done on the script he's working on, we'll have a damn good campaign

I wouldn't be so sure of that if I were you. I doubt if that ****ing script will really get THAT good.

Pelit didn't give you points because it was demo review but otherwise it was positive as said before. One of your comics get to the magazine.

I could possibly translate review but right now I'm busy in school. Maybe some time later if someone still wants it.

Posted by Xaphod_x on 11-18-2001 01:29 AM:

I think perhaps the Earth Minbari war's a bad setting for a campaign.. a good setting for a demo campaign though - only two races needed... but a bad setting for a campagin in general.

Despite of hurry I started translating text. I have almost 2/3 ready if someone is intrested.

Posted by Triggy on 11-18-2001 03:48 PM:

Definitely, but you might as well wait until you have finished the entire article before posting it somewhere

Read previous posts. Now I'm almost done (few difficult words and some text).

Only and BIGGEST problem is that I don't know if I can publish it because Pelit owns copyright for reviews. I ask them about it in magazine's forum but it can take while.

Posted by Zeronet on 11-18-2001 06:29 PM:

Cant you just put their copyright on the review?

I think so but it's better ask before than get paying big bills.

Posted by Alphakiller on 11-18-2001 07:22 PM:

Nope. If you say "copyright by X" but you publish something of theirs - making profit especially - you get nowhere. Make sure to get an answer from Pelit

Similar to music laws. You can't just say "music is copyright (whoever the artist is)" and distribute it over something ... it's still illegal.

However, if all you're doing is translating it and putting it up on the web for free, with all credit given, that's probably okay. Still, you're very smart to get permission first

I already asked but getting answer takes some time and translating isn't ready yet.

WHAT!?

You got my answer about half an hour ago already!

Now where's the damn (p)review?

Seriously, I think I made quite clear that the physics model being what it is, is not the Team's fault. Nor can anyone judge mission scripting, let alone campaign scripting and storytelling from a demo.

I did disagree on one point, though. I guess you guys will see it soon, and then we can have a nice flamewar.
