ok this is a very newbe question.
I apologize in advance. If there was a newbe area I would post it there…
Just got PS2 with Summoner2 and tried to play it.
As soon as I try to kill the boat captain I die. I tried running away from hi Etc...
I’m sure most of you will go – OMG how can’t he figure this out… but I can’t
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and yes, flaming is expected if not welcomed…

Just block, swipe, block, swipe.

Yeah, the captain got me the first time, too...just remember to block...it is very, very helpful!

OMG what a dumba** only kidding (someone had to say it and it's usually me)

As was said before block and swipe but dont forget to use the lock on feature as well (release block first).
Blcok only works when facing so lock on will point you in the right direction. Also keep the guards alive as long as possible by killing all the mages/pirates, they will help a little with the captain.
