Need Help!

I recently lost all the data on my second HDD, where Red Faction was installed. I managed to reistall it, but it just vanishes when I try to start or load a game. I have to restart the computer using Alt+F4 before I try anything or Kernel crashes on me. Can anyone help?

Just a guess but if you lost all your data on HD #2 and reinstalled rf on the said drive maybe drive #2 is dying? Try installing to drive 1

I think you've got greater problems in that system than just losing RF1.
I'd start backing up critical data now, then look at a reformat/reinstall.

Unfortunately, that's why I lost the data in the first place. Both disks were on the same cable, but as soon as HDD 1 came into use, HDD 2 would die. It was seperated and reformatted.

That's when everything went crazy. A few games won't even reinstall because they think they're still on the system - and since there are no install log files anymore I can't convince them otherwise.

Damn.

Might have it solved. Turns out my Direct X 8.0 was corrupt, so I'm downloading DX 8.1b. Cheers for your thoughts and advice though. I really appreciate the response.
