Help with Red Faction and EAX please!
Hello... I have a pretty fast PC... Pentium 4 1.50 Ghz, 512 MB of PC-133 RAM, and a GeForce 3 Ti 200. Red Faction runs well, except for ONE really annoying problem. I recently installed a soundcard. It's a SoundBlaster Live! card (a few years old), with EAX support. When I play Red Faction with EAX enabled in Multiplayer mode, the sound will just stop after a few minutes of play. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a way to correct it? I really like the way the EAX adds sound effects (like the echos and such) but this is driving me nuts... any help would be appreciated... thanks.
i have had that problem quite a few times. i think it's too many "voices" playing at once, thus the card stops sounds for a bit. i noticed that sounds drop out in 'rooms' sometimes too.

btw. I was banned from the old Volition BB for no reason.
I have eax enabled without anymore problems than I already had...
then again I did just purchase a soundblaster audigy gamer card..it being top of the line..
with a 400 watt altec lansing speaker system.
hehe
why do sometimes I get constant sound of machine gun during a game and it gets so bad that i have to turn sound all the way off.?
Thanks for the replies.... so it sounds like the Soundblaster Audigy card might be able to solve the problem? Has anyone else had any luck with that card or others? For now I will just turn the EAX off... it's a shame though, as I think the EAX really adds something to it...
