Question Neutral ships

I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem,
when I made some ships neutral in fred 2, and then ran the
mission, ingame the "neutral" ships were immediately hostile.
It's not a huge problem I guess, I can just make them friendly.
However when you bring out more races ships it is likely people
will want to have some of them as neutral in missions.
It's strange, because "unknown" works OK while "neutral"
doesn't.
I can't remember whether this happened in Freespace 2 or
if it is just something that happens with TBP.

The Fred 2 help file says the following:

"There are four teams to which a ship can belong: Hostile, Friendly, Neutral, and Unknown. In a single-player mission, the player is always Friendly. By default, Hostile ships will attack Friendly and Neutral ships. Friendly ships will attack Hostile and Neutral ships. Neutral ships will attack Friendly ships. (In FreeSpace 1, the Hammer of Light was Neutral.) Unknown ships will neither attack nor be attacked by anyone (unless ordered to do so)."

So I guess that it has always been that way.

You can have events to switch a ship's allegience if that is essential to the mission.

well, that doesn't happen often, that neutral ships attack you...

well, you could make them unknown instead of neutral then..

The logic behind calling them "neutral" in that case is completely
beyond me, but thanks for letting me know.

It's just about as logical as calling pulse guns "lasers".
