I'm not 100% certain but that should be a simple table modification.

Extract a copy of the ships table using VPView (or get a copy from my link). Play about with the speed and acceleration options until you understand what they do.

Or you can wait till someone more used to table mods answers

Is it even possible to change a ship's attributes and still use it in FS' orginal campaign?

Check the 'modding' section FreespaceWatch site for a better overview, and tutorials, but........

tbl files are standard ASCII text files - you can edit them with notepad, or wordpad , so long as you don't change the format.

The tbl files are - with all the other files - encoded in a VP file. It's like a zip archive, excpet not actually compressed.

You need VPView to view the VP files and extract the files. TBLView can be used to view - but not edit - tbl files, and can parse them - i.e. display a table of pirmary weapons, etc - which is useful.

I forget the exact links, but IIRc they are both at descent-network.com

and you must remember the D-net tools are the cornerstone of all FS modding, we're more likely to remember them than yours
