critical problem with freespace 2
i just reinstalled Freespace on WinXP, configured it, started it...
the intro played, then the game switched the resolution to display the pilot selection an then dropped me to desktop with the following error message:
Error: Could not load in 2_ChoosePilot-m!
File:C:\projects\freespace2\code\UI\WINDOW.cpp
Line: 185
Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
kernel32.dll 77e5eb69()
------------------------------------------------------------------
any ideas?
my system:
athlon xp 1800+
geforce 2 gts
512 mb ram
blahblahwonthelpmuch
operating system is windows xp professional, freespace version is 1.20 german
install path is e:\games\freespace2 , perhaps interesting, as the error features another path
would be nice if someone could help me
is it the latest update of winxp?
have you tried using compatibility mode?
tried reinstalling?
tried any of the source code projects executables?

FS is running in Win XP smooth and fine - you needn't use compatibilty mode
you also needn't install the last update, it was and is running, doesn't matter which status of Win
But
if you have "updated" any DirectX version you HAVE to (re)-install the VGA-driver (so the order always IS: 1st directX - > then VGa! )(sorry for having no clue, which results your GTS will workout when you try to give it DX 9..)
@all veterans:
Hia! long time no see
and nice to find some of you "still alive" and busy.
