VW Main: Code Red Virus Alert

CNN as well as numerous other news agencies and online websites are now reporting that a second and likely more dangerous Code Red virus attack will happen Tuesday (thats tommorow) at 8 EST.

The virus is a worm type that distributes itself across the internet by targeting IP addresses. It similtaneously floods specific websites in order to bring them down (or deny service). Windows NT and 2000 users are the only ones at risk of infection so the average user with 95, 98, and ME will not be affected.

If your a NT/2000 user, you might want to make sure that you're patched (through Microsoft) and thus excluding yourself from the denial of service attack and the rest of us should probably reschedual planned squad matches taking place at that time because performance may be seriously degraded. On the other side of the coin, the virus may not work as planned and service may remain the same.

It targets vulnerable IP addresses and uploads itself from computer to computer. If you're patched or running something other than NT/2000...then your fine.
