Lightbulb Idea for pilotable ship

What about the vorlon planet killer as a flyable vessel? I see from the sreenshots section of your webpage that you guys have already incorperated plantery destruction into the game. Sure it wouldn't handle all that well, more of a bomber that an interceptor- but It would be fun for anti capitol ship missions.

Seriously- I am absolutly kidding. Unless you like the idea...

The Vorlon planetkiller won't be in the game, because its to big. I think Kazan announced this on the forum a long time ago.

I was under the impression that there was something strange going on with the VPK, but that implementing the VPK was a definite possibility.

We can have VPK in the game, it's helluva big but FS2 has seen even bigger thingies, like Jabu's Death Star.

VPK is a massive vessel, most likely we will use it but you will not be fighting on it's side blasting Vorlon fighters on your thunderbolt or whatever fighter you're flying then.

And Shadow Death Cloud WILL NOT be in the game, on background it will be though, but not as a 3D object.

Here's an idea to make a mission where you fight INSIDE the death cloud: simply make a dark nebula with a few really large pieces of the mechanism inside.

I think we should be able to fly ALL fighters and the Shadow Battlecrab. After all, the Crab only has one crew member.

Would be easy enough to make a sort of piltoable capship -say a small cruiser or corvette. I think you could use the training 'is-targeted' SEXP coupled with 2/3 forward beam cannon (and flak / laser turrets on auto-fire ) to fire a beam whenever an object is targeted - wouldn't be too hard (if I'm thinking clearly).

I might use it as an idea in one of my planned projects, anyway.

Great, now you're again whining. This time about flyable ships.

To make my point clear, it is plain stupid to be able to fly everything, at first hand: you don't have control over beam weapons!

2) Practical
3) Balance
4) AI
5) Size
6) Back to whining

I'm going to be happy enough flying Starfury and thunderbolts, in the future I might consider giving the thunderbolt a custom paint job, how does bright Green sound?

hmmmm, what if you could alter the asteriod models in one mission to be sdc missles? Then you have the asteroid field inside a black nebula.

I'm not on to argue. . .

But Londo is an Idiot for NOT wanting to fly a WhiteStar. The WhiteStar was star of the inanimate objects in B5, except the station of course, and Sinclair (hehe).

As long as I get a BlueStar (Which is a smaller WhiteStar) I guess we should be fine.

And yes I do understand that the Freespace engine isn't made for piloting ships bigger than fighter size. I guess my WhiteStar fix will have to come from the IWar mod.

PS Does anyone else play with custom pics for their pilot?

Good good. I'll say right now that we will try and make the WhiteStar work. But the reality of the situation is that it probably will not work or not work very well. And we want things to work well.

So the WhiteStar will be in the MOD...don't even question that...but we'll just have to see how it works. Nobody has even tried something like this before.
