RF2 for PC, GameCube and X-Box in March

http://www.planetgamecube.com/news.cfm?action=item&id=3836

Apparently, the GameCube version will look nicer wheras the PC and X-Box (trust those two to be grouped together) will have more maps and chracter models.
And it comes out in March! Yay! Oh, wait. That's probably just for you Americans.

IMHO, their plan was never to bring it to other systems.

I think they are doing it because of poor PS2 sales and they need the money, if you did not know, Volition is in financial difficulty and they have recently lost some senior staff because the work atmosphere is not all that great.

Featuring an enhanced Geo-ModTM engine that allows players to strategically alter and destroy the game environment in real-time, Red Faction II expands and builds upon the experience and technology of the original game with blistering action, an engaging storyline, highly detailed graphics and a number of multi-player options.

The Gamecube version, being developed by THQ's Cranky Pants GamesTM studio, will feature custom animations, improved texture resolution and color as well as enhanced lighting specific to the Gamecube hardware. The Xbox and PC versions, being developed by THQ's Outrage® Games studio, will include increased texture resolution, and exclusive multiplayer maps and character models.

When stock prices drop.....heads roll.

It's the American way!

Can we NOT turn this into something ugly already?

I'm looking forward to the release, a second gen geomod engine will be fun . But i hope Outrage handle support/patching for RF 2 better then V did with RF1.

Could it have been handled worse?

That's a bunch of crap. We have Fatbabies to thank for that.

How can we be in financial difficulty? We're owned by another company! If they're doing fine, we're doing fine.

And here's from the thq site:

Well Todd I sure wish I still had the link where I read about this. Because it was a press release or something to that extent.

I'm not arguing with you, just saying I did not make it up and would not have posted about it had it seemed like pure rumours.

Oh and btw, you can be in financial difficulties even if you are owned by a big rich company. If your product does not make money, then the big boy can consider lowering your budget or just closing down the division . I'm not saying its your situation. I'm merely refuting you statement

Small Request: If you want me to buy RF2 for PC, remove the limit of GEO MODs in MP and I'll buy it 100%, its the only thing that kept me from buying RF.

Having a lowered budget doesn't mean you're in financial difficulty.

If I'm not mistaken, the press release you're talking about said something like THQ didn't meet expectations for the quarter. That doesn't mean they're in financial difficulty.

I don't think many companies met the quarterly budget, christmas sales were kinda sluggish.

I'll be waiting in march to chip in my $50 though

hey todd, i got a question i didnt think making a whole new thread would be good so:

will RF2 be at all modable? Since it was developed for the PS2 first, I dont think modding capablilities/a level editor can be assumed. If so, will it be more, less or about the same as RF1. just wondering cause there were some RF1 mods that might get a kickstart with RF2.

Honestly I don't know. I don't know a whole lot about what kind of features Outrage is adding to RF2 PC.

Posted by The_Croc on 01-24-2003 06:45 PM:

As long as they dont fux it up and make it like most FPS out today where 90% of the time better gun wins. The beauty of RF IMO and why I still play it even after 18 months roughly? is because of the weapon balance. I know no matter what weapon I have(aside from RL but thats a dialup issue) I stand a chance at winning the fight as every gun is actually useful and can defeat a player with a different gun. It makes for a wider variety of play as you dont have everybody clammoring for the exact same weapon.

Agree to 1000000%...exept for the flamer
I love the balance THANK GOD it's not like Q3 and UT2003 rocket crap...
Good fast engine...

Hope to see a better cheat free RF2!
