What exactly does size have to do with abilities?
The size does matter a lot when talking about player flyable ships.
We have few plans about this matter but for now... Whitestars will not be flyable.
Edit: Even when we have few plans, don't get too excited. It just might not work well enough.
Edit 2: Bluestar most definitely will be flyable.

isn't the bluestar the fighter version of the whitestar?
also I read one of the B5 novels a whole back, to dream in the city of sorrows I think and Sinclair, his woman and marcus flew the whitestar prototypes, they were only 1 man fighters really but they packed the same firepower as a whitestar

It would be cool even to fight alongside the Whitestars.
Are you gonna make a version where is the Earth ciwil war
that would kick ass.

BlueStar and WhiteStar are based largely on same tachnology but they have much differences.
Size: BlueStar is much smaller, about half the size of WS.
Firepower: It is supposed that Bluestar has significantly less firepower than WS has. This is largely due to size.
Agility: Bluestar does not have Vorlon propulsion system anymore, it is unknown what this means. It might be BlueStar is not as fast as Whitestar is.
Weapons: If we can trust our eyes, Bluestar has two weapon mounts, WS has 5.
So, it is much easier to make Bluestar player flyable ship. And Whitestar will definitely be in the game.

The Bluestar can be effectively controlled by one person, and it's likely a personal transport for more important people
The Whitestar prototypes were something else completely. They were fighter-sized, and had significantly less firepower than a WS. I just wish I could remember the name.
Hel'Zha is name of the prototype fighter.
They were one-man fighters, much more deadly than Nials.

I dont think even a Shadow could survive the overpowering stench of Pakmirah barf, maybe thats another reason vorlons wear encounter suits, it means they dont have to put up with the smell of Pakmirah

WhiteStars are 400 meter long ships (according to most official sources but in the series they alternated between 200 and 400). The Nial is 20 meters long.
Anyone see a problem here? No? Okay....lets think about the logistics of flying a 400 meter long ship by itself. I'm willing to bet that because the way that FS2 works its pilot viewpoints, you'll be colliding with other ships long before you actually are close to them in the view screen. The spaces between your guns are also bigger than a fighter.
We've still got to work out the beam weapon issue as well. There are some ideas...but they have not yet been tested. So as it stands, the WhiteStar would probably not be an official flyable ship. But we'll see how things go.
Note to everyone out there: just because you demand something doesn't make it any more or less practical than it was before.
The BlueStar, which is basically a personal version of the WhiteStar (and more than capable of turning other fighters and medium capital ships into meow mix). I don't know where everyone is getting their ideas, but its got the same Minbari/Vorlon technological base as the WhiteStar does. Its got the same Anti-Matter Guns on the wings...and it packs one hell of a punch, not to mention being fast and a very capable craft.

On the continuing theme..
I would like to fly Lorien.
In any event, I am more than looking forward to the release and have been watching this progress since Reap first thought of the project. A brief question though, are there any plans for a secondary campaign involving the Great War?
This has fluctuated as time has gone on, and I am more than a bit curious.
