How has it screwed up your copy? To be honest I don`t think losing a log file should screw you up but tell us what's wrong and I`ll give you as much help as I can.

To be honest I`m still really confused as to why you need an install log file to reinstall the game.
The first time you installed FS2 you didn`t have this file so how on earth did you install the game?
Install.log as far as I know is simply a log file so it has no effect on the running of FS2.

What problems are you having exactly? Maybe the missing install.log file is a symptom of your problem rather than the cause.

Why can`t you just stick in CD1 and reinstall? You don`t need a log file for that.

What happens if you just uninstall FS2 and then simply put in FS2 CD1 and click on the install option?

Before you go as far as the reinstall maybe it would help if you told us what the actual problem was. It could be that you`ve got a simple problem not requiring a reinstall.

Have you tried simply deleting the FS2 keys in the registry? That should be all you require AFAIK to make your computer think that you hadn`t installed the game.

As for the log file where does it live anyway?
