Need weapon testers!
One of the very few things I didn't like in the mod were the Nials(and Lintiras) weapons, and I always thought if I could make them look better. So I gave it a try to make them look more like in the show, and I think I at least got close.
Of course I would like to have some other opinions about this, so i wonder if someone would like to try it out and tell me what you think. I can't host the files anywhere so I'd have to email them. It's only weapons.tbl so it isn't large.
I hope someone likes the idea.
And to the team: Is it just me or wasn't the Lintira used in any of the official missions, at least i didn't see it.
mail it to me my mail is : marko.kurs@mail.ee

ok it looks great only 2 problems
1. the beam is just too thin when on my so slow pc i shoot the beam disapears so it has to be thiker
2. the bolt could go just a little bit faster ok allot faster and with the same fire rate but cut the tails a little shorter then they won't go behind ship thenn it will be perfect
i would do this my self but i dont know **** about modding
or tables editing

Heh, silly old me, those problems were actually pretty easy to solve. Now the trail doesn't go behind the ship, and the shot flies about 5 times faster. I hope someone else wants to try this out too, because I honestly think that this looks great.
I want to try

What size is it? Perhaps I could host it, but just recently my server had some problems. Should work though...
Sent them...
Hey dude if you mail it to me, I can upload it to The Gaming Union, then everybody can download and test it easily for themselves without the fuss of e-mailing
Just send to heavypear@hotmail.com then I'll get them up on TGU for you
Just tested it in one of the custom missions...
Some problems:
1) The beams are flickering... They are flashing like a stroboscope.
2) When flying a nial, you can hardly see what you are hitting and sometimes the beams completely disappear.
Perhaps I'll will try some changes, too. However, I would prefer just to try to reduce the effect of the trails going through the ships, which you eliminated but of cost of all other functionality.
I could put your file up now, if you want...

You mean, the TBP team did it different from how it looked in the show? Ok then... In one of those briefing anims it definitely flashes, so you're right, I think. Simply too long ago I saw a Nial shooting...
But why did they do it for TBP as it is in release 1 then? That's odd...
Ok, I'll wait...

Ok, bug of the decade:
I decided to start over from scratch, and took back the original gun, only one problem, the weapon won't change! I have the completely original tables, but the gun still looks like and works like the one that disappears.
Freaky...
Huh? Well I tried to change the table and got EA Lightning Bolts as a weapon... That is strange, too! But yours is indeed
THE BUG OF THE DECADE!

Well the team did say that they had had problems with changing it so it looked right and that there were a few bugs inherant in the system. I guess the solution is to just stick to trial and error.

Ok, everything ready for the first official release
Now the beam works pretty well. I couldn't get it to disappear even in the "Battle of the line part 1". It looks IMHO better than the TBP original, and is relatively well balanced(ie. all original TBP missions are playable with it).
I'm now sending it to The One and White-Sf, because they promised to upload it. If someone else wants to host, post your email here.
If/When you have finished uploading the files, post a link here.
Can't wait.
