Help please

I am currently attempting to build some models for fs2. I am slightly curious, I build a model, yup easy. Make it look good texture it, easy. So how the hell do you add gun turrets and different sections of the ships, weapons, comms etc?

These may be stupid questions but hey ho, their ya go.
