-- Ugly textures in FS2 (http://volitionwatch.papageorgefamily/vwbb/showthread.php?threadid=6217)

Question HELP! Texture error in FS2

I recently installed FreeSpace2 to play this lovely game once again. Since the last time I had it installed I have upgraded my GeForce 256 to a GF3 Ti200. About the problem: There were no crashes but the textures look ugly. Watch the image below. The textures are anti-aliased or smoothed, they have jagged edges just like a resized bitmap (resampling, on the other hand, yields smooth images). Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I wish I new, for I have the same problem... Try contacting volution-support, maby they can help you out. I have contacted them myself, for a hour ago, so I have to wait till I get a respond. As far as I know, they are still providing support for Freespace 2.

FSAA?

I enabled anti-alias now and it looks OK. Not as good as it should look but good enough.

But this is the least of my problems. The game also crashes after a while. FS2 is one of the most stable games I've ever played and it was stable until I got my GF3.

I have gotten rid of my problem, but I havnt had any crashes. I am using Gforce 4, and the game seems to run good on that. Volition gave the same advice as the one I saw here, and now everything runs smootly. I`m off to kill some space-bugs (also known as Shivans).

Again, the only advice I can give, is to contact Volition.

Anti-Aliasing does the same thing on my ATi Radeon 7200
As for the crashes, that could literaly be anything.

Fiddle around with options and hope you don't mess up your computer.

New hardware and old games don't mix well.

FS2 works just fine with my GF3Ti200, it's better leave FSAA and any other anti-aliasing disabled though. And I mean disabled, not that application can decide whether to use it or not.

FSAA just makes text really hard to read. It makes the game look really pretty.

Not having a geforce myself I can`t be certain but this might be what you`re looking for
