FS1 Intro
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the FS1 intro file? Mine got corrupted somehow right after I got the game and I would like to see the movie again.

Isn't this a warez post? Anyway, do you know how many megs the intro cutscene is? Who's going to waste their time uploading it? If I may ask. Anyway, just buyb fs1, it only costs ten dollars.

The intro is 81 megs, so I seriously doubt you can find it on the net. As already said, it's a lot better to just buy it new. Tge FreeSpace 1/Silent Threat expansion bundle only costs 10 bucks, and can be found in WalMart and other places.

Thanks for that advice, though in the short run it helps me not at all. Since i've already spent upwards of 50 bucks on this game my sense of logic has just kept telling me to take as it is, but who knows maybe desire will win out over reason at last.
One more question: does anybody know what a "cyclic redundancy error" is?

How did you manage to pay 50 bucks for freespace 1? I think if you get the freespace gold version ( fs1, ST, fs2) for a little less than that. When fs1 came out it cost about that much.

I got FS1 for about $36 and ST for about $20.

Ouch...when did you buy it? If you just bought it recently, that price was definitely a rip-off. Well, anyway, is the problem with the intro file related to your cd? Is it scratched or can't be read properly?

Actually I bought the game right after it came out. And yes, the disk is scratched but I've seen disks that are much more beat up with out corrupting any of the files. Also how likely is it that a scratch bad enough to corrupt a movie on this disk is not going to damage other files as well?
edit: I tried to copy the file to the hard drive with the intent of changing the .tbl's so that it would read the movie from this location, however windows gave me the following error:
File Transfer Error
Error reading file INTRO: Cyclic Redundancy Error
...and thats the whole story, any ideas?

Get one of those CD cleaners they sell at EB or something. Apparently that can do the trick.

Hmm...well, then, try this program out.
http://www.daemon-tools.com/
In this site, you should download 2 programs - Disc Dump and Daemon Tools. Go to the Download Section. Download DDump and run it. What it will do is it will dump the image of the CD into your Hard Disk. Then Download Daemon-Tools as well. Install it, and once it's installed, an icon of it should show next to the clock. Right click on it, select Virtual CD/DVD-ROM, then choose Device 0, then choose Mount. Now look for the CD Image that you made with Disc Dump and select it.
What Daemon Tools does is make a sort of "Virtual CDROM", with the image of the CD that you made with Disc Dump. Actually, I'm also doing this with my copy of FreeSpace right now, because my CDs get very noisy inside the CD-ROM drive. It should work better now, because all the data is in your HD.
