Joining/helping TBP team?

With all the little criticizism going around, by me included, everyone tells us to "make our own models" or "join the team and help them, then."

Well, Icefire, you know me. If I send you a couple of missions I have made, and if they are decent, can you give me some scenarios to work on? I may not be perfect, but I can get the beginning of the mission down, or set up and leave out, say, the voices and stuff. It -could- save you some time.

I know your team is probably full enough, but I, and others Im sure, are quite adept at making missions. We could follow the parameters you set out for us, and you just fix up the mission later. It would save time.....

again, up to you. Im throwing out my time to make a mission a week/month, whatever, if you want.

I really dislike TrueSpace. I still haven't figured a way to turn the view to the nicer 4-view.

I really don't understand why everyone doens't use Maya.

Can you imagine what you could do with particle instancing in the FS2 engine?!?

I'm upgrading to Maya 4.0 myself in a week. Some VERY nice additions and changes in the renderer especially.

I don't understand why everyone doesn't use that free version of MAX that Kinetic released for game mod developers to use.

the problem is that the way things stand at the moment, there's no max to freespace converter (though I'm led to believe that a programmer could make one), so everything HAS to be converted from truespace to freespace. I happen to start the process in max, but others don't.

Strider: Just because you can make missions doesn't mean that we have a overwhealming need for you on the team.

As it has always been, we have lots of "mission designers" stepping upto the plate to help out when the real need still exists in the more obscure, and decidedly, talent enriched areas.

You've got to have real talent to do the modeling that Tomcat does, or the texturing that CptWhite does, or all of the conversion processes that Et1 does. And not just becaues those guys can do it, but because they do it extremely well.

Anyone can make missions, I can make missions, you can make missions. Now, mind you, it takes a special talent and alot of practice to make really good missions, the basic tools to do it are there.

The retort about 'helping the team' or 'go make models' has some point to it, so I'll try and justify it. I'd rather not take those on the literal level, but the message behind those comments.

The message is that these are not easy things to do and you can't just pick it up and do it. Neither can you find someone out on the street who can just do them. Thats the point.

We don't mind criticisms. Definately not. If we did then there is something wrong with us. There is also something wrong with us if we don't defend our own position and if the criticism goes too far, expects unreasonable amounts of effort, time, or suggests something that is unreachable because of the limitations that we have.

I hope that clears some things up.
