POF editor: Aurora

seeing as this wasn't getting enough atention in the FS modding section, and I want to keep the HLP peeple who are aware of this up to date with my progress, I am posting here too,

remember this is pre-Alpha, don't use it on anything important to you
Aurora and source open source
just release Aurora much smaller DL size

I have just implemented preleminary suport for insignias, there is currently no editing capabilities for them but I will likely use something similar to my decal code to help in the creation of insignias.

all other data chuncks are fully suported,
this is not a converter but rather a fully featured editor that has more functionality than any other POF editor or viewer in exsistance, and it looks better too

if you encounter any bugs tell me on one of the forums, in this or a similar topic would be ideal.

where should the textures/models be then. I get an illegal error when I try to load a model.

Posted by Bobboau on 02-06-2003 03:03 PM:

textures should be in the same directory as the model, wich model are you trying to load,
and what is you're screen color resolution

I tried to load Cruiser1.pof, all textures were in the same folder, running resolution at 1024x768x32

Posted by Bobboau on 02-06-2003 04:53 PM:

try it in 16 bit desktop color depth, there is a bug that causes DX to fail on start up for 32 bit color,
I supose I should try and fix this now

How handy.

Do you think you could add an option whether I want the mouse Y-axis inverted or not? I'm used to Modelview...

still the same. It only loads Fighter01.pof fine

Posted by Bobboau on 02-07-2003 12:09 AM:

well it should load a few other models fine, just checked that model, and indeed it crashes,
it's probly the oddly sized textures as that is were it seems to be crashing,
the odd thing is that the debug version responds fine, wich is going to make hunting just were it is crapping out hard

OK I've tracked it down to the resampleing algarithem over reading, I've almost got it fixed

HA! Nailed!
zip updated, it should now open them properly (though I still haven't fixed the 32 bit color depth bug)
you should note a major boost to the frame rate as I did fix improper DX initaliseation that I hadn't seen untill I just went through looking for the 32 bit bug.
