I'm surprised you can make your own websites with just JavaScript, with no HTML
Even if the book includes an HTML primer, jumping right into JavaScript without doing any prior web design is usually not a good way to start making websites. Learning what the basic tags do and gaining a good understanding of HTML's capabilities before using JavaScript is a good idea.

I'd suggest Webmonkey for learning HTML, specifically the HTML Basics section of it

On your positions, what do you mean by "Java coder"? JavaScript or Java? What for?

The same goes for "graphics artist". Do you mean someone who can do buttons and layout graphics for a web site? Someone to make renders of freespace ship? Somebody who can draw freehand? Someone who can touch up photos?

Even the origins of Volition Watch have us all starting out with individual sites. I ran my own FreeSpace fan site for about 8 months....then joined DC, then created Planet FreeSpace and the merged the whole wack of them into Volition Watch later.

Since we're doing site biographies...

I worked for a company called 'Boss Research Inc.', which was the backend for a site named Brokenpixel.com. We rocked, then the other CEO took over, fired all the administrative staff, hired 3 newsies and married his coder, Adam (or something like that).

Anyways, i wrote a review for FS2, worked on the site for a MOD (now dead, YAY!) called Project Nova (for RF). I was such a good guy that TEH ORNAGES (and staff) extended an invite. A few months later then *BAM* we dont know what the F*&!@ happened and im the hosting admin.

BLEEM!

Although it still sucks, Tripod is one of the better free ones. It's actually got SSI and Perl enabled, which is quite amazing.
