For Freespace 2 you must use Truespace 4 or above. Truespace is an arkward program to use and Freespace 2 is a tricky game to mod (regarding the amount of areas where a made ship can become corrupt). It requires no use of bolean expressions (think i spelt it right) only flat faces.......well im not a modeller but i know its tricky....it will take you a long time to learn...so be warned.

i thought the smiley was appropiate!

The only problem with TS4 and above is that its costs a bomb!!!! £500 in the UK!

Have you even tried moding with anything else??

You need Truespace 4 or above. Forget the earlier versions. And Cpt White is right. FS2 is a pain in the ass to make models for. Be prepared for a steap learning curve and a lot (I mean a lot) of frustrating problems. If you want to give it a try you should read all the tutorials on the net. There are plenty of people on the bulletin boards who really know what they're doing like E1, Bobboau, Kazan, and Max Sterling. Failing that you can always write to me at IPAndrews@hotmail.com

ok here is the deal..
u can model any ship with TS2..it will help to have a greater version......but to make a ships 2 is ok..
texturng that ship is complittly other thing..can be done in 3 but u don't have UV map per face witch is very important.
...and compare the price with that of Lightwave or 3dMax...Ts is cheap

Hey Galen...

People are greedy bastards. I have always said that... TrueSpace 4 is one of the best(?) 3D programs in the world and has been a pain in a ass to be programmed, so figure out why it costs so much...

If you would do a program which no one has ever seen before and is very useful. I think that you would be giving a big price on that too... Human ideology, money makes a better man... (yeah right )

No, TrueSpace sucks and I wouldn't pay a dime for it if I could get Lightwave of 3DS.

Oh? I though that something was wrong with the program when I was trying it out...

Darn, I was hoping to try my hand at modeling for this mod also. I guess that idea goes out the window. You see, I have both lightwave and 3D Studio and am currently trying to teach myself how to use them. I've had quite a bit of luck with 3D Studio Max 2.5, having bought a handy-dandy book for it.
Has anyone explored the possibility of importing models from 3DS Max or Lightwave into Truespace? If that were possible, I'd be happy to hop on board and model some ships over the summer when I have some free time.
