Wasn't someone trying to make a movie of gameplay?

Posted by CptWhite on 04-16-2001 10:09 AM:

I was.....you need a super computer to get a decent frame rate....its too intensive to run game and write a avi file at the same time.....sorry you'll see soon enough

There is a way to capture video footage (Dynamo did it for BWO) but he used another computer to do the capture at the same time.

He nor anyone else that I know has that capability right now.

I think you would all agree that we should put our efforts into making the demo/pack 1 rather than a movie that lasts 30 seconds.

You guys always try to do things the best way, try the ghetto way!! Just get a camcorder and tape someone's screen, we don't care if it doesn't look perfect.

um... yeah...

Unlike you people, I'd rather have a High quality MOD than an extra crappy trailer.

then you can make your own trailers

Trailers...the only one I see that REALLY needs to be made is one for the intro, I think most would aggree on that.
they are easy to make, I COULD do them, but I'm not great at it, try www.musicofb5.com/b5animations , that guy is GOOD, and he takes request!!!

Actually, all that is needed is holding down printscreen while playing a mission. (keep 10-20 second clips to save HD space, but you can have *many* of these clips)

I could with the proper time volunteer to do a quality B5P trailer of a 3-5 minute length, but I would want to once all of the files and textures are finalized for the best effect.

I'll be finished with school for this year after May 4th. Contact me and I'll see what I can do. I'll probably be too busy with BWO though.

As far as a trailer is concerned, making one wouldn't be too hard, look at the Descent 3 demo that ships with Freespace 2, all easy stuff. We can't get one till we get somewhere on the mod though. I can do the record of video. I have 2 computers setup so I can capture video, I'd just have to know what to record. I can't put it together though, but I know someone that probably would. What do you guys think?

Okay.

Wait till we're closer to completing the demo. There really isn't much to be proud of right now. But there will be some serious substance soon.
