Games other than FS/FS2

What kind of games does everyone play besides Freespace and FS2? I'm a total RPG addict, and I also like real-time strategy games (StarCraft, Command & Conquer, WarCraft). My opinion on the best RPG: Squaresoft's Final Fantasy 6 on SNES(it was originally released as Final Fantasy 3, and renamed for re-release on PS-X)

I think I speak for the rest of the staff that Counterstrike for Half-Life is one of the best games of all time.

As for myself, I just finished Deus Ex (finally) which was an awesome game and definatly one of the best games, if not the best game released this year. I also liked Raven's ST:V Elite Force.

As for RPGs, I hated Diablo 2 (in fact, I gave it to my friend to borrow) but I am in love in with the Final Fantasy series, in particular FF7. I want to get a PS2 so I can play Summoner and FF9.

I also play Starcraft under the name Lifeforce or [A-Team]General, Unreal Tourney under the name [l33t]fudrucker and Q3 under the fudrucker alias as well. (I've been seen in Descent 3 as Dynamo, Lifeforce, Rtype, Khyron, I Luv Vander, and other assorted nicks.)

I agree that CS is awesome, and that Diablo isn't all that hot, but you don't need PS2 to play FF9, it's a regular PS game. I bought it two days ago. I haven't played Elite Force yet, but Game Informer rated it pretty high, I think I'll get it soon.

it was how you said it, "I want to get a PS2 so I can play Summoner and FF9". It sounded like you thought FF9 was a PS2 game. And I deserve to be smacked in the head for saying that my favorite RPG was FF3/6; Chrono Trigger wiped FF3/6 all over the floor, and it was also updated for PS-X, although for some unknown reason, Sqaure didn't release the PS-X version in America. I'm still wondering why.

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask, have you played Front Mission 3 on PS-X? it's one of my favorites. In the space of 4 1/2 months(since mid-July), I acquired over 150 hours on it and beat both sides of the storyline twice. And then, the same day I got FF9 and a new memory card(thank God) the one I'd been using broke. It really pissed me off, mainly because I also had a 62-hour FF7 save with Emerald Weapon beaten and a 50-hour FF8 save with everything except all cards and Omega Weapon done.

Alright..... Time to run through the list on my current desktop and remember some games from the good, old 486 days....

Currently installed and almost immediately playable:

Descent 1
Descent 2
Descent 3 (I like running those down like that. )
Need for Speed
FreeSpace 2 (duh!)
C&C Red Alert 1 (reason enough not to buy RA2)
Commanche Gold
Chessmaster 5500
Planescape Torment (said you like RPGs?)
Age of Empires II
X-COM: UFO Defense (ultra-high-res 320x200! )
Earth 2150
Mechwarrior 3

A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far away (also known as backups of the dead 486 lying in the basement):

Descent 1 and 2
Dungeon Hack (over one million random dungeons with which to hack!)
F117a
Outpost

There's probably more for that list, but nothing really worthy enough for me to have remembered them. As for consoles, I don't touch them anymore. The last game I got for a console was probably Goldeneye for the N64. That reassured me of two things: Descent really is the best shooter series, and consoles still have a long way to catch up if they'd like the gameplay to be as entertaining and addictive as the PC allows.

Well, I'm not a huge gamer, so my lists are small.

Installed
Descent: FreeSpace - The Great War
Descent: FreeSpace - Silent Threat
FreeSpace 2
Deus Ex
StarCraft
StarCraft: Brood War

Not Installed
Half-Life (with TFC)
Half-Life: Opposing Force
Unreal (not Tourney)
The Sims
SimCity 2000
SimCity Classic
SimTower
SimAnt (lost the disk.. dammit)
SimFarm
SimEarth (damn that's a lot of money to Maxis )

Let me see.
Running WinNT kinda reduces my choices on games but here's what I have .

Installed and operating
FreeSpace2
Descent 1 and 2: The Definitive Collection
Descent 3
Descent 3: Mercenary
Unreal Tournament
Deadly Tide (has no multiplayer)
AOE Gold
StarCraft

Games I enjoy, but don't work under NT4
Need for Speed 2SE
Need for Speed 3
Tribes 1.11 (have yet to figure out why)

Games I have that aren't installed.
Frogger 3D
Centipede 3D
Battleship CD-ROM (doesn't support NT)
3D Ultra Pinball 3: The Lost Continent
The Time Warp of Dr. Brain
One Must Fall 2097 (DOS game)
Radix: Beyond the Void (has a major beef with NT)
Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego (NT issues again)
Myst
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Unreal
AOE II
StarCraft: Brood War (can't find the CD)

Games I want
Oddworld: Abe's Exodus
Half Life
Half Life: Opposing Force
Deus Ex
Unreal Expansion Pack
AOE II: The Conquerers

I think that's about it .

I was kind of disappointed with this Christmas's choice of games. The last few years we've had some good ones and I can't remember a Christmas where I didn't find a kick ass PC game sitting under the tree. (Last year it was UT. I particularly remember Space Quest 6 and Carmen Santiago as a few other sweet Christmas presents)

Ah, but I want to have the PS2 because it can play both.
