Can't run Freespace under XP

Is there a patch to allow Freespace to run in Windows XP Professional? I just upgraded, and now FS won't start. Thanks,

The original FreeSpace? Uh, yea ... so they stopped working on that years ago ...

If I remember right, you can use XP's built in "emulator" of Microsoft's older OSes ... ??

FS1 works fine on XP home edition for me, but I'm not sure about Pro. I'm no pro.

There isn't much of a difference between Home and Pro ... other than networking capabilities ...

get the 1.06 patch. It works flawlessly on my XP Pro box - except you CANNOT alt-tab out. You WILL lose it. So make sure nothing kicks you back to the desktop and you should be fine.

FS1 didn't work under XP Pro for me until I got the 1.06 patch. Go to volition-inc.com/fs and look on the downloads page for the patch. Only problem: I can't temporarily exit to Windows using the alt-tab. Annoying. Does anyone know how I can get the alt-tab to work?

Didn't you notice Alphakiller say that alt-tab would make it crash?

I've had that problem with FS1 the entire time I've had it, under both Win2k Pro and WinXP Pro but other than that FS1 has worked fine under both OS' (except for some minor trouble with a Glide wrapper in the former).

FS1 wouldn't for me in Win 98 until I got the 1.06 patch, it would just lock up. It runs fine on my XP Pro anyhow.
