Twilight Trailer

The Twilight trailer has been released. Though humble compared to the Black Water Operations trailer, I hope that the few scenes glimpsed might attract some questions as to what is really going on in this campaign.

The .zip file doesn´t work.
Winzip and Winrar tell me it´s corrupted.

OK. I got it.
You have to rename the .zip files to .avi or .smk!

I´d like to warn all that want to download the 70 MByte avi-file.
It´s 25 seconds long, small size, graphics and sound stutter and the only thing you see is a Deimos exploding.
Haven´t tried the the smk-file.

I suppose the avi is badly corrupted.

Actually the .avi should default on any media player to run. The movies were compressed further with a utility which changed their file extensions, and it does appear that some machines require the extensions changed again. (sorry for the inconvenience)

Unfortunately, it does appear that the .avi version did get corrupted when being uploaded to the FSW FTP, I'll work on re-uploading it tonight.

The versions, as stated on the site, are very low resolutions.

The trailer is intended to be a 30 second brief.

The .smk file's compression does no justice since the frame rate is lowered as well as the audio and video quality is extremely low.

I will after re-uploading the file work on getting the .avi into a different codec, for another high resolution file. (a high-res .mpeg should be 6 megabytes and have the same quality as the uncompressed original .avi)

For the time being, I hope that the file isn't too much of a disappointment.

I watched the trailer, even tho it was "removed."

Unfortunately for Ace, I am smart enough to figure out how to get the file wihout the link...

I have to say, not bad.. it wasn't corrupt, just fast... you tried to fit too much stuff in a 25 second trailer.

Make it longer...

Actually, the .avi version does have some compression problems.

I'll try to get an .mpeg compressed ASAP as well as figure out a better compression manager that won't have the file extension issues. (and a way so that when it's named just plain .smk IE downloads it instead of displaying it as text :P)

Ace that was a first class mistake especially for a newly released campaign. Not to say the least i was looking forward to watching a decent 2-3 minute trailer especially for its size. I am one of many disappointed people in the FS2 community hopefully something will brighten up the Twilight Homepage within the next few days to dissolve this error.

A new version of the .avi has been released, and is fortunately a much smaller size.

..and Maxim, you won't be disappointed.

Tell me Ace is there any chance that you could have added sound to the ingame sequences from Freespace2.

Posted by Ace on 03-21-2001 08:26 PM:

I don't have sound in those sequences for space reasons. (that's also why it's such a low resolution and so short)

However, if wanted I could do in the near future a "special edition" with more scenes and the sound effects artificially added in.

I would settle for less title and words and for more of the motion, all i got out of it was some snippets of color, other than that, it moved to fast for me to really follow what was happening.
