rookie question

Hi all, as you can see, i am a rookie with teh fred editor. Now i have a question: Wth aren“t my ships firing any beam weapons at the enemy?! I tried different positions and ranges, but i cant manage it

The problem is - I tried the trigger and it worked with 1 ship (it was the NTF Iceni) but NEVER again. I amde 1 for every ship, but only the Iceni is firing

Wohu! The Hatshepsut is also firing 1 or 2 beams... Maybe its a kind of bug O_o

I manged to fire 2 deimos class corvettes on each other...
But after the 5th or 6th beam i get a error message...

Freespace2 crashes and i get a btw...
Same happens to the editor if i keep it open till testing.

Sorry for my bad english but i cant formulate that problem in a good language because at school we learn more to speak english (i wonder when i had to write my last english letter...) so please understand my informal posts...

And i still get erroreos massages while testing my missions (not only the one with the beam)...

I will try a reinstall.

What kind of error messages? Do you have any MODs installed?

Beam-free has to be the easiest trigger of all. If a ship is present and the beam-free trigger is activated, the ship is considered beam-free and will use beams to attack the enemy. If the ship is not present and beam-free is triggered, it will be not be beam freed when the ship does arrive. If there is no beam-free trigger, the ship will not fire beams at all. The fire-beam trigger relies on the turret be a beam turret (ie. it has to have a beam on it) and it is best used to script a beam fire sequence rather than setup a beam fire for a general purpose engagement.

Take a look at another mission with beams in it to learn how to do this effectively.

Anyway I suspect that your problem requires a reinstall rather than being due to something you're doing wrong so ZB's FAQ wouldn't have helped you anyway.

Well, at last, i got it.
I reinstalled FS2 and now everything is working fine ^^

Just small Probs with Satanas beams, but i think that can be fixed by trigger.
Sry for taking your time

btw, what kind of mods and custom campaings can you recomment for me?

Well the Beam Reference appears to be back up again so it was probably a temporary glitch.
