Game Resolution ?
Is 640x480 the highest resolution I can get on Freespace 2/TBP v2? Is there any way I can get it to 1280x1024?
Any help would be great!!

1024x768 is the highest res. You need to install highres from the FS2 CD and set it in the FS2 setup utility.

1024x768 resolution is not available in Home of the Underdogs version of FS2, it simply does not have the highres vp-package. It is possible to download it somewhere else though.
If you have retail version of FS2, simply reinstall FS2 and select high-res this time.

actually you can trick the game to thinking highres in installed
create a blank txt file in the freespace 2 directory and simple rename it "sparky_hi_fs2.vp" check the rendering options again in setup

Im goin to check this out.
Well it gives the option to change it but causes problems ingame. I just dont get why there isnt any copies out there, hell i found fs1 copies in stores.
as always in situations like this, ebay is your friend.
FS2 is probably going to become a rather sought-after game..

What is the base pack?
What is, and where do i get the base pack from?
Tried all the others suggestions, but i still cant get more than 640x480. i have a hi-res pack, but it only installs hi res textures.
Cheers

base is something we created to allow people to play without the need for installing freespace 2. it's not perfect but includes (nearly...in testing constantly) all the required files by our game which are part of the original game, thus installing the minimum amount of files required (both high res and low res files) Can be downloaded here:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/alliance/TBP-Base-1_4.exe
Just use the VP files from it if you have freespace 2 installed, place them in your main directory and now when you enter the game in high res mode all the graphics will be present.

Thanx Capt White
At last, Ive managed to get my resolution to 1024x769. EXCELLENT, after playing it at only 640x480 its a god send. This download has also changed all of the option and selection screens. Its so much better now - your a star. I can now play my missions in a lot better graphics environment. adding to the overall satisfaction. CHEERS!!!!!
Cheers
