Red Faction Plot

Is it just me, or is the whole redfaction series awfully communistic?

It's just you.

Although RF does have the workers overthrowing an oppressive regime, and Red could relate to Communism, I remember on more than one occasion V employees - including the head writer - saying it was not a Communist-inspired story. Red in Red Faction == Mars.
Plus, the theory of an oppressed majority fighting an oppressing elite is older than Communism, so..

Also there is the whole "police" force that come to clean things up, and the entire "advertising" campaign that lures workers to the planet, which implies private business, capitalism, not communism.

exactly. I find it very similar to Total Recal myself.

...

only without arny, mutants, and miners.

No, no, no. This is communism. Definitely communist. The whole Volition staff is communist

Seriously, I do agree on the fact that there is certainly some communism evocations in the game. "Red", "faction"... Against the pitiless capitalism and the oppression for profit... Even if it was meant as a joke, such coincidences could not have been ignored.

Where is the problem, however? It's fun!

I was wondering the same thing. It's not overtly communist, but c'mon the logo was pretty much a take on the old sickle and hammer I bet it wasn't intentional, but when they noticed it at V they just decided "Ah so what, we're not doing politics we're making games!" which is the way it should be

Agreed

It's slightly communist. But then again, not every rebellion is a commie one. Red Faction strives for survival or freedom, rather than equality and everyone-ness.
Like Brando, I found it a bit like that film Total Recall - a rebellion on Mars, which is owned by an evil megacorporation.

"Series"?? There's only one Red Faction game out. How does that make a series?
