Loading prob

Sup fellas I was down for 2 days because ME screwed up once again and now I'm on XP . Well to the prob. When I attempt to load any mission in the mod it goes about half way in loading and then stops and FS2 locks up. Anyone have any clues if I installed something incorrectly or if this is a known prob? Maybe I installed something wrong because I was asked if I wanted to replace certain files during installation. Was I supposed to replace then or not? Any help would be appreciated.

I remember hearing about this. Does a regular FS2 mission do the same thing?

And can we get some more specifics on setup - specifically CPU, 3D card, sound card, anything else that might be important.

OK - the install. Install core files first, then everything else. I assume you installed the hi-res pack, which does replace files, which it should. That part's ok.

Here we go...(not the greatest but works great for me)
800MHz Athlon T-bird
512MB pc166 RAM
SB Live! Value
Geforce2 GTS 32MB
Maxtor 19GB 7200rpm HD
ASUS A7V133 MOBO
Win XP Pro

I think it replaced files on the high-res install. All the missions I tried to load were TBP missions. I even created one of my own and the same thing happened.

I had a similar problem, which was due to it looking for a debris
file which did not exist. I copied the ea-debris file and renamed
it debris01 (I think - I'm at work just now and can't check it),
then everything loaded OK. When I get home tonight I'll check
the file names and make sure they are correct.

I had a similar problem with loading about 1/3 into loading the mission, amongst a couple of other places (most notably when the intro sequence loads up). I have a TNT2 card and have had similar problems with a couple of other games but as it turned out downloading and installing the latest drivers seems to have done the trick. There is at least the possibility that it is a similar problem with the GeForce - worth a try anyway.

Hope that helps

Well I'm running the Detonator XP 21.83 drivers for the GF2 so I don't think that is the prob. I tryed a fresh install of FS2. I guess I'll give that one more try because it can't hurt. Phantom icq me(95982844) or AIM me(jasondan) when you find out. Thanks.

well it appears that the reinstall worked and now it is running fine. Thanks anyways for the help fellas.

I'm having the same problem. It seems that I can have one playing session per install. If I quit and restart FS2, the game freezes while loading the mission and I'll have to reset, and to play again, reinstall FS2 (good thing I finished the missions in one go ). The problem doesn't occur in Freespace 2.

I installed the mod as instructed, core first and other parts after that. I also tried that debris-file thing mentioned above but it didn't help.

My setup:
900MHz Celeron
Abit BH6
256MB RAM
TNT2 Ultra (tested with 6.50, 21.81 and 21.83)
Aureal Vortex 2
Win 98
