Red Faction Watch: E3, Reviews, and Interview!

Posted by Alphakiller:

Okay, so, those crazy people at Action Vault posted some kinda E3 report thingamajiggy...specifically about the RF PC version. He got to play in the secret THQ room, and although he said he didn't play very long (and the article is short, reflecting that) the reviewer-d00d had a very positive impression. He also got schooled by the AI's mad skillz, thinking some firefight would take 10 seconds...ended up taking him 2 minutes. Ha-ha. Anyway, read it if you need even more convincing that RF is cool. The most important news is that some THQ PR guy seemed very "confident" RF would ship before September. Now, as much as I love THQ, I'd prefer hearing that from, say, Mike Kulas, but whatever works for ya.
Check that out here...now.

Those loser d00ds (You'll see why in a minute.) at IGN PC snagged an interview with Philip Holt ... although we hear in private Orange calls him Philly D4wg ... don't know what's up with that. Anyway, as I read this thing, I'm hit with major deja vú ... probably since this is the exact same interview as those n00bs posted at IGN PS2 on May 19. Severe llamaliciousness ahead, Captain! What's up with these IGN guys? Anyway, if you didn't read it then, or you just like the IGN PC color scheme better (well, or the fact that IGN PC bolded the questions whereas IGN PS2 didn't) or whatever...uh...click here.

Now, running a close second place to that eSports-America guy, who isn't even worthy of my time to make that a link, is this wierdness from Planet PS2 who goes on and on about how Parker is a dork, how the voice acting is lame, the story is weak, and my favorite, "RF is not supposed to frighten you, like HL did, but it would really add to the experience if things felt a bit more hectic than they did." Now, maybe it's just me, but...well...HL didn't scare me, and really, if I want freaky scary I'll go play AvP. Whatever, it's his choice...I just think he's wrong. Anyway, if you want to read this three-page review, you can just click here. Or, if you just want the raw numbers, he gave RF an 84 overall, with 82 for design and 86 for the technical aspect. Still, I love his cons list, which seems totally out of whack for an 84 review. "Some poorly written dialogue, some sections are too hard. Voice acting is bad, long and frequent loading times." ... funny, a lot of other reviews I've read have said the load times are good. Whatever.

And last but not least, if you people need some strategy guide help, fanboys have been posting them on GameFAQs ... you can check out the main FAQ page for the PS2 version here and the review index (where RF is averaging an 8.85) here.

Random Good News: At GameSpot, RF's user-review count is up to 793. I've rarely seen a game with above 500...so yay for Red Faction. (Hint: This means popularity.)
