-- FS2 sequel (well.........maybe) (http://volitionwatch.papageorgefamily/vwbb/showthread.php?threadid=8219)
Replying with another script won't do jack. They've got a head start and have proven themselves to be unworthy. We still have our integrity, and more of a right to a conclusion of the series then they. The Descent community is killing their own chances by cheating; if we do the same we'll lose out as well. No scripts.
EDIT: 200 posts.

So you've cracked the code? That proves it can be done. But we cannot do it! Let Interplay prove it has been done, by the Descent community!

How about showing this whole discussion to Interplay and hope they make both games when they realize that even people hack their server for wining the vote?

Done. I sent them the link in my email.
You know what this compares to? What if SW Ep 3 never gets made? Or LOTR: Return of the King is never released? It's a trilogy...
The Descent community has not been using a script, so STFU about Descenters being unworthy. You either a) find a quote of someone doing so, b) produce the program itself (the communities are so closely tied it's impossible to hide it from you), or c) accept Descent's integrity and its lead and get to voting if you want to come back.
You wanna know how worthy we are? Here's why Descent's score has skyrocketed: I e-mailed Blues News about the poll yesterday and they posted about it. Here's a screenshot of it as of 2:33 p.m. U.S. Mountain Time:

Here's the link: http://www.bluesnews.com/
Descent is far more mass market then FreeSpace is, hence all those people voting for Descent. When I sent that e-mail, FS was at 50% and I'd almost lost hope for D. Maybe you guys should try and fight back instead of claiming we're cheaters.
*edit - deleted "proclaiming yourselves superior" from the end there, as that was pretty lame.
Just to clear a few things up....
1) To the "traitor" remark way the hell back in page two, I played Descent five years before buying FS2 and have always played D3 more than FS2. In my honest opinion, it is the better game, and I would like to see it continued. That doesn't mean I'd be disappointed if FreeSpace wins the poll, but D3's more worthy of my vote.
2) For those accusing the Descent community of cheating, you're pretty much wrong. When the Fallout community put their voting script together, it caused Fallout to soar to 99% of the vote in a matter of just a couple hours, and absolutely no amount of poll stuffing from the Descent and FreeSpace communities combined was budging it. Descent 3 had larger initial sales than FS2, has retained a larger number of followers since the sales dwindled, and had more copies printed, meaning that there are new players still buying the game. The numbers have been against FreeSpace from the beginning of the poll, even when it was leading, but as you've found out, most of the Descent community stays up nights.
3) As for the continuation of FS2's plot, I seem to remember in the past a lot of remarks along the lines of, "If it's not made by Volition, it's not FS3!!" If a sequel comes of this poll (and it is a big "if", no matter which game wins), Volition is still property of THQ, and they're probably not going to enter a contract with Interplay. A new developer won't know where the ending of FS2 was going, even on the assumption that they played the game. Since the previous Descent games weren't quite so plot driven, there's a greater margin for error in making the plot for the sequel, since most people are voting for the adrenaline-pumping gameplay.
4) Finally, stop to consider the actual significance of this poll before getting too riled up. (Okay, I fueled the fire by starting the image thing, but I had a few minutes to burn and some screenshots handy.) Chances are, the Interplay webmaster is just trying to haul hits in on the website. If that's the case, the top brass of Interplay probably doesn't even know about the poll and all really is lost for Descent and FreeSpace. If they are looking at the poll, they're more likely interested in the total votes for each game as a gauge for the demand of each one. If that's the case (and they don't notice the ballot stuffing on both sides), then both games might end up getting their sequel. On that note, if they do notice the ballot stuffing, then, once more, all is lost for everybody.
Anyway, moral of the story, it's a poll, not armageddon. In all reality, Descent and FreeSpace are two great series that were robbed by poor advertising. Both are worthy of a sequel, so if a poll is going to determine which one goes on, it's another bad decision on the part of Interplay. Which ever way the poll goes, life goes on, especially for the FreeSpace community, given what's on the immediate horizon for space combat sims (FreeLancer, 'nuff said).

I'd like to say a thing or two about one of your arguements Blueflame.
Descent3 had a larger initial sale than fs2, because advertising existed for D3. People are still buying the game because the ****s at Interplay didn't discontinue it.
But other than that I agree with you, almost...
