-- Ramming (http://volitionwatch.papageorgefamily/vwbb/showthread.php?threadid=7446)
Well lets think of it this way... a fighter was made to be recovered in a gravity-enclosed fighterbay (or so we assume, looking at the Bastion's main screen in FS1). A capship, on the other hand, was built completely in space, where there is no gravity. The weight of an Ursa loaded with Harbingers is pathetic, puny, compared to a ship like the Orion. A full-speed ram from even one of those things wont damage the cap-ship much, it'll only destroy you.
But if you talk about mass and speed and ram it into a puny cruiser such as the Fenris or Aten or Mentu, THEN you have the POSSIBILITY of being able to ram the ship's hull integrity down by a BIT, but still, its not likely.
Ramming doesnt do anything but give yourself a headache (a big one, too). And this thread is old.

Ramming a destroyer with an average fighter or bomber is roughly equivalent to that mosquito that goes splat on your truck's windshield. Annoying, but only slightly, and certainly not much of a problem to remove since they came out with those neat water-soap combo sprayers designed almost specifically for removing the resulting splut. Certain mod bombers can be reasonably excluded from this, such as the Jotun, Notus, and that 'bomber' in BWO which should be a cruiser.
Ramming a smaller freighter or cruiser on the other hand could be comparable to something like a cat launching itself into your window at speeds in excess of 60mph, which could, if the entry trajectory is well calculated, shatter the windshield and continue on to hit you in the face. This could possibly knock you unconsciencious and thus cause you to drive off the road and into a tree, at which point your gas tank will properly crush itself magically and lead to the magnificent explosion which would destroy the truck.
However, a bomber with bombs armed and ready to go in the same situation could be comparable to a cat with 10 pounds of C4 strapped to it hitting your truck. Not a pretty sight.
No cats or trucks were harmed in the creation of this post, a strong 'do not try this at home' is attached.

lol Kamakazi (depending on how much damage you set them to be in SEXPs) can cause somewhere between 0%-5% damage each ship. At 84% hull (or just more than a dozen hits), your ship has been greatly weakened...

With sexps, I can set the kamakaze damage of a dragon to such that it would destroy a Sathanas if it was anywhere near the blast. Then again, with tables I can create weapons that will kill anything within a 60km radius through a shockwave that travels at insanely high speeds.
Sexps and tables aren't the best reference for the reality of such a situation.
