-- Shivan Debate: Do Shivans Have Installations? (http://volitionwatch.papageorgefamily/vwbb/showthread.php?threadid=2665)

That really does sound feasable, i mean, look no gap at all between the hull plating.

Oh, yeah, number 100 woo hoo

Its assumed, by the GTVA, that the Shivan's bodies have devoloped, for zero gravity environments. By What I assume, this means that they A: Have no need for air. Perhaps when they first were *there* they drifted in space as little spiders . They evolved up..
Would they have installations? I'd doubt it. Look at a friggen' shivan, them manually building a Shivan is mind boggeling. I also doubt they have any type of robots...
I'm leaning towards, they are half smart/half killing machines (Note how, in FS1 they have a kill meter on that ship. Kills: 0 -- when you go in and scan the lucifer) they destroyed race by race, stealing their technology. At first, they simply killed the beings with their own natural killing abilities. (See StarShip Troopers for an idea of how they might kill a race). And then, with they're tiny unknown sized minds took they're technology. They're ships. etc...
I'm under the assumption that they enslave other races aswell. Thus, they don't build machines (Don't see how its psyhically possible), -- however they have they're slaves build them and the Shivans use them. I'm also under the assumption that they have a rather large population. They've been around for awhile. They have a LOT of slaves. Kill the military, enslave the people. Take their technology.
They're attacking the GTVA not because they wan't to kill them, but because they want to enslave them to build things.

Thus, they have installations. But enslaved races construct them etc.. =D

There's a kill meter on all GTVA ships.

Yeah, but not as visible as the Shivans. Like they get pleasure from killing other forces.

It was clearly stated in FS1 that the captured Dragon was given Terran instrumentation.

Also the "Shivans enslaving other races" theory is flawed in that in order to enslave races they need to land on planets and invade as you mentioned Starship Troopers style.

As stated in FS1, the Shivans have no interest in planetary bodies, only with sub-space node clusters. Now we know that Vasuda Prime was annihilated by bombardment from the Lucifer, and so you can assume that Ribos, Ross 128, Ikeya, and all other systems reached by the Shivans were similarly annihilated

Lightbulb Check the V Concept Art

I think there's an easy answer to this question -- check the FreeSpace 2 concept art. I'm almost certain that there is a Shivan installation in there somewhere. I know that there is a Vasudan city of some sort, but I also clearly remember a Shivan installation (I say almost certain because it might be Vasudan if my memory is incorrect).

BTW, Interplay has been selling double CD sets of FreeSpace/Silent Threat for $10. Same with Descent 3 and its expansion. Check the bargain aisle, they're in a paper jewelbox that flips open for the screenshot/text. Interplay must be so hard up for cash. And my local Chicago Microcenter received what must be Interplay's overstock. There must have been something around 30-40 copies last time I browsed their games section.

But before you go any further please leave your sanity at the door, this place has the ability to change topic very quickly epsecially with snipes around.

You may or may not know this but i don't care.

People need to consider that we may not have ever seen a real shivan. What we've seen could possibly be a form of power armor or a bio-mechanical construct of some sort that carries out the fighting.

Which, if true, would mean that they posses advanced robotics technologly and might be able to build ships without a construction yard.

I just thought of something. It isn't directly related to the topic, but what if the shivans are an energy based life-form that inhabits these bodies. It could explain how they comunicate with, correct me if I'm wrong, EMP and how they have a natural affinity with subspace.

Yeah, yeah... you all blame me... but even If I stay out of a topic, it goes awry faster than a nail being hammered through jell-o...

As you all remember, my 2 other topics, "shivans" and "BWO Questions" Both of which are still on topic, and are serious discussions. Yes, there are only 2, but that's because I don't really make topics, I just reply to people making me the scapegoat in most of them.

The [V] dudes has said that what we saw is a real Shivan, they have cybernetic implants.

Glad to see an ancient one here at these forums. (i.e. Zarathud)

Yes, V concept art does show a Shivan "space city" which may have been intended to be used in the SOC loop missions.

Nothing personal Snipes, but you got to admit, you CAN be the culprit for many a derailment.

Yea, I am ancient aren't I?

Since when has the FS community EVER kept on topic (FUDL, FDL, FS Webmasters list)? hehe....

BTW, love the MODs coming out of the community these days. I wonder why no one has tried to duplicate that Shivan installation yet. It looked hellacool.

I don't think the Shivans have installations. This is how they work. They can only multiply in the nebular gas. So they supernoved the stars in the region beyond Gamma Draconis (also known as Thuban) and in Capella (Also known as Alpha Cephi). They need the stuff to live and they just grow like bugs. The gas gives them that bio/mechanical apperance.

There's no proof that they need nebular gas to *copulate* like *zorts*.

And where did you get the name 'Thuban' from? There's no official name for the nebula.

Exclamation Wow, this is getting really big

Anyway, let's see, there's those that say yes and those that say not.

Well, I think yes, they use frames, but after the basic struture fram is done, it moves off to the next, there the first starts to grow with Naites and the Shivens could work on the ship, or what ever, I just think that both ideas could be possable and the frame being taken aprart? Well, possable, but I think being mobile, like in dericalt, there was the Shiven made Knossos.

You deside.

P.S. And Snipes? PLEASE, stay on topic.
