I was pretty sure that the F-14's were being phased out due to age. Does Grumman even exist anymore?

I do know that the new Super Hornets were slated to take over the role of their predecessors and the role of the F-14.

Posted by Snipes on 04-11-2001 03:12 PM:

Um... yeah...

Posted by Charger on 04-12-2001 04:23 AM:

yep, thats what they are supposed to do, as for grummin, i think so, though they don't just make aircraft, i have seen several grummin deivery trucks. they might have merged with lokheed.

Posted by Snipes on 04-12-2001 04:49 PM:

There used to be a huge grumman plant here on Long Island, less than 10 miles from me, I believe... but it closed down and the government took the land...

It's like a wildlife reserve/caged hunting area, which is wrong in itself.

Just get the Aurora if it exists which i think it does.

Posted by CODEDOG ND on 04-13-2001 03:28 AM:

The Aurora project is definately real, but it's several different R&D projects mixed together as an "urban military ledgend."

Now the *best* airplane in the world is the SAAB Viggin... (now ye dirty minds out there, don't be thinking about different types of Viggin in sweden!)

Posted by Snipes on 04-15-2001 01:08 AM:

Hey... it doesn't have to be legal for people to do it...

I have classes full of 16 yr old drunkards.

Posted by Turnsky on 04-16-2001 02:52 AM:

BTW Ice, Canada is doing better than the U.S. (Sorry for our southern neighbors). In fact, we are the only country that the U.S. invites to the Top Gun competition and we bring the cup home a lot of times. We got fewer pilots so we train them to do anything with our aging CF-18. Imagine if the Arrow Project wouldn't have been cancelled by Diefenbaker... This also applies for the Tiger Meet in U.K. (except there is a lot more countries invited).
:P

Dear China,

We're sorry that you don't train your fighter pilots better. As a token of our apology, here's a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000.

We're sorry that you're front-line fighter planes can't outmaneuver a 35 year old prop-driven airliner. Perhaps you'd like to consider purchasing some surplus 1950's era Lockheed Starfighters from Taiwan. (Who just replaced all theirs with shiny new F-16's)

We're sorry that you believe your territorial waters extend all the way to Australia. For future reference, here's an American 6th grade geography textbook. (Please take note of the Copyright information printed inside the cover.)

We're sorry that you can't seem to see your part of this incident. We know that it may seem easier to blame others than to take responsibility. Consider this while we build several new Aegis destroyers for our friends in the Republic of China (Taiwan).

We're especially sorry for treating you with such respect for the last 20 years. We'll definitely rethink this policy, and will probably go back to treating you like a common untrustworthy street gang very soon.

We're very sorry for ever granting you Most-Favored-Nation trading status. This will be rectified at the soonest possible opportunity.

Sincerely,

The United States of America

PS

A lesson in numbers:
CHINA: 23 nuclear weapons, all land-based, with unproven guidance systems.
UNITED STATES: 16,000 nuclear weapons, including land-based, airborne, sub-based, and a whole slew of cruise missiles with guidance systems so sophisticated that one could easily target any individual doorway in Beijing from 1,000 miles away.
Do the math...

Codedog, lemme guess... you're from Tanzania, right? Yep, that patriotic spirit shows just a wee bit...

What?! You're not!?!? That's funny, I could have sworn...

On a serious note, why don't we start a "Which superpower in the world today has the biggest stick?" topic for all this stuff?

I know, I'm guilty too... but Israeli tanks really are the best desert tanks and our Air Force really did wipe the USAF all over the sky, but who's counting, right?

I'm not counting.

And I don't think that should be the name of the topic, cause someone might read it as Which superpower in the world today has the biggest... nevermind

The Isreali's are like the Iraq's. The Iraq's were able to lick us pretty bad in mock battles. However in Destert Storm, we knew where to hit them. And that was there ground radar coverage. When the Iraq's lost thier ground radar, the aircraft were almost flying blind. That is why we were able to pick them off as the ran to Iran.(lol I'm a poet) Israeli would be the same, or most other countries. Fighting the US is like fighting a War of Attirition. In numbers and equipment we far out number all but a few countries, like China, and Russia. But Russia can't afford wars right now. And China is too affraid, since we are one of thier biggest trade partners. Just look at WWII, the American army was at 19th in size before WWII, in less than a year it was the largest, which tipped the balance of power into allied favor. Same thing in WWI. The US is quick to arm itself, and should not be laughed at. The Germans made one single mistake in WWII, that saved Britian, and that was at Dunkirk. Hitler made the stupidest descission not to crush them at Dunkirk thinking that they would turn tails and stay out of the war. But they didn't.
If the US wouldn't have joined into WWII the germans and japanese would have most likely have made it into India.

I´m not german (just to inform), not even american. But I know history. (WOW!! Sounds cool)
