Smart modding could do that, have all the beams fire at an invisible object in front of it, when the beams hit have the invisible object fire another larger beam, along with a primary which fires in on itselfs creating a bubble to hide the "mess".

I still want to see 3rd person view ingame cutscenes.

Dynamo makes a hella awesome point. Someone should take a look at the DaveB demo recorder code that he left in there and make a in-game cutscene tool out of it. This would be so awesome.

In-game cutscenes as in ... mission designers can set up battles and pre-scripted events to happen and the viewer would watch it as if it were the intro video.. except it would be all done in the game engine. Just like in Red Faction and Summoner..

All I want is support for bigger resolutions! Like 1280*1024. That shouldn't be too hard too do...

Instead have 8 or 9 different colours and allow each side to be programmed in FRED as to who are the enemy

e.g

Blue ships will fight green. They'll ignore Red even if they start shooting at them and they'll ignore purple until they start shooting at them.

You should set it as an option in FRED2 as to who shoots what.

Or you could have posted it on the Death Star forum.

I'm thinking that the RF light effect Bobboau mentioned would work well even for the glows that Sandwich mentioned on Shivan ships.

The game ST: Bridge Commander uses glows like that and it looks good for the windows on the ships there. Now imagine a Fenris looking that good, or the Lucifer...
