Why disable ships when you can change their IFF and make allies shoot at enemies? Hmmm...?

when i use standoff weapons at point blank range, i first distract the capital ships weapons by sending in fighters and assault fighters in ahaed of the bombers to distract the enemy guns. this lets me get in close enough that the capital ships weapons are unable to shoot down my weapons before they can impact the hull.

hmm...there is no way in hell the Harbinger was using a fusion bomb with 3 fission bombs. The Fission bombs blow up about 2 miles in atmosphere, in space much further since there is no resistance. And a Fusion bomb has about an 80 mile radius. Like I said NO WAY IN HELL that thing uses nuclear weapons on it. Anyways, a shielded bomb would be nice! *hint* *hint* ::Kicks Ace:: *cough* make one! *cough*

wouldn't work... only ships have shields... einstein

ever try?

Posted by Ace on 06-16-2001 05:35 AM:

The original Stiletto space bomb does infact have a shield system.

Also as a reply to this:
there is no way in hell the Harbinger was using a fusion bomb with 3 fission bombs

Read the tech description of the Harbinger, it confirms this.

Did the original Stilletto actually have shields in game?

:Smacks Snipes with a trout:

Yes it did, if you shot a weapon like an ML-16 laser at it, the weapon would be ineffective and you'd see a white shield glow effect.

If you shot a heavier weapon, the bomb would go down as normal.

I don't remember that... does it still work in fs2? I don't see any sheilded helioses flying around

hmmm....i read the tech discrpition a thousand times, i know what it says, but in reality there is NO WAY those can be nuclear weapons.

Posted by IceFire on 06-17-2001 02:47 AM:

Actually, most of the physical damage done by Nuclear weapons in atmosphere is accomplished by the compressed air (ala shockwave) skirting around the blast area. Just think of the immense pressure change effected by a nuclear weapon of some sort.

There were suggestions of firing off nukes in the middle of large hurricanes to disrupt their low pressure centers and dissipate the storm before I reached land.

Nukes are a whole different beast without air or water to carry the shock. In space they are mostly radiation, light, and heat.
