I realize that, Oh mighty keeper of unwanted things...
Nevermind.
But I never thought of that as their sensitivity to subspace. I always thought of the Shivans as moles looking for food, they can't actually eat until they bump into it, because their blind...and all...um.. that was pointless, but I hope someone understands this.
(When I'm listening to creed, I don't make sense...)(And no, I'm not a diehard fan, so I don't know any songs but higher, and with arms wide open)
I a way, i think he's right. Shivans would be highly attuned to subspace activity and opening a jump corridor would release a hell of a lot of energy. Perhaps the shivans see subspace as thier home and any ships crossing thier domain will then be annihilated and the species belonging to the ships would be exterminated. Hence Ross 128 and vasuda prime for example.
That's probably how the ancients were wiped out and the shivans served them a "Keep of the Grass" sign. Dunno if this makes sense or not but that could be one reason why the shivans attacked without provication at ross 128.
