Well, the G'Quan is something that I doubt about. But the sharlin reminds me of a big fish.

EA ships are a perfect example of function before form. All an Omega needs to do is show up and unload fighters and massive amounts of whoop-ass. Looking good doing it is not a requirement.

I wasn't talking about combat effectiveness. I was talking about tactical and strategic roles.

Energy mines is a tactical advantage for the G'Quan. The fact that the Omega has 36 fighters VS the G'Quans 12 is a tactical advantage for the Omega.

So quite clearly, the G'Quan was meant to duke it out in a close in battle. The Omega was designed more to bring fighters to a battle and then combine firepower. The Omega is no doubt a more expensive (resource wise) vessel to build than a G'Quan.

Given a straight on Head-to-head fight, no obstacles, no special and unusual extra equipment, captains with equal skill, equally profficeint crews, etc, which would win

Under those circumstances, the Omega without question. Starfuries are superior to Narn fighters, and with T-bolts it's not even funny. After that, the G'Quan would have very few functioning weapons mounts in short order, and then the heavy frontal armament on the Omega would rip it to shreds.

However, we need it in TBP to *cough* test it. Hint nudge wink wink.

What? We do that sort of things all day. What? You meant "We" as in you? Sorry, I don't know your pain.

By the way, I just took five screenies for fun. Here.

First two shows a G'Quan firing her energy mines at a Hyperion cruiser. Imagine, two energy mines were enough to destroy the cruiser!

Rest three pics are there because everyone just need to love G'Quan showing her weaponry.

Note: There is no background(s) or any kind of ambient lightning in that mission, except standard white sun.

For nitpickers out there, we know it looks like the tails on pulses are wrong. But in truth glows are centered around pulses, sadly it depends on graphics cards and drivers how it looks in-game. Or so it was explained to me...

And indeed, what Alphakiller said is true. G'Quan holds an advantage in long range with her energy mines. But an Omega has much larger fighter compliment, not to forget that an Aurora or a Thunderbolt is superior to a Frazi. Forward arrays of an Omega and a G'Quan are quite equal. It is secondary weaponry that tips the balance to either side in a head-to-head conflict.

Can't wait to have a Primus against the two.

It is great watching the GQuan launching its energy minesA couple of GQuan's launching their mines can quite easily take out a nova.
