You know, we've positively derailed this topic so far off-topic, it's not even funny.

*sigh*

Anyone care to bring it back on topic? Else it's gonna have to get moved...

In the Beginning. Lenonn had a gun, it looked like princess Leia:s blaster from Star Wars. Though he never used it.

Those thousand-year-old guns looked a bit different, boxy.

I'd like to see a Merkava fight in finland. Dense forests, lakes and swamps. It may be the best one in the desert, but not everywhere.

If you want that, take a Russian tank... not an allied, is also useless

It was the Infinite Improbability Laser.
Everything looked different in Gathering.

Someone was mentioning the rapid fire of those Centauri weapons that they used on Morden's 'associates.' I'm pretty sure that the standard PPG rifle fires just about as quickly, though perhaps they use a different form of ammunition. On that matter, why do the ground forces use PPGs at all? I thought their only purpose was supposed to be in space where you don't want to go shooting solid projectiles into the hull and causing a massive decompression. And then again, we've even seen the PPGs being used to cut down doors, so maybe they're not really as safe for in-ship fighting as they'd like.

Garibaldi said that projectile shooting weapons are still in use in Earth. Seucrity guards etc. (Season 2 or 3 I think... When he was fingering his six shooter and Zack came in and started asking questions about that "relic").
But I guess that PPGs are so much better that military rather uses them...

I think the PPG:s problem is range. The plasma bolt likely loses heat quite quickly, and the containment field won't hold forever either. Of course inside ships or stations this doesn't matter, but long range ground warfare may be a different story.
