as for the cross platform - i just dedicated 4 GB to windows [hehe.. i've been playing red faction again ]

i've been working on a renderer for POFs [trying to perform accelerated rendering].. right now im trying to figure out where i have a bug in it.. i bet you $10 it's a stupid bug to, find it and say "DOH!"


Im using the following things to make cross-platform very easy

OpenGL
OpenIL [Open Image Library]
OpenAL [Open Audio Library] (well, when we get to that point)
SDL [Simply Directmedia Layer] (OpenGL initializaiton, event processing, joystick processing)

I think im goig to drop OpenIL if i can find the code needed to load the FreeSpace 2 PCXs... i don't remember - are they all 8-bit PCXs? or are there some 24 bitters in there?

OpenIL causes crashing - it's the reason why the version of PCS with the renderer randomly crashes with some textures..

Usually is the small simple thing that causes the massive glitch in code. A pof renderer sounds good.

I think they are all 8bit.
