well it is the in game model, so minus the shadow effects (and there seems to be some old code about that laying around in the source) that's predy much it

I took some looks around, it looks like it finds if a point on a model is in a shadow and if it is turns it's lighting dark (remember FS uses Gorund shadeing on all the ships), I found two tinny bits of commented out code having to do with seeing if a model might be in a shadow, with these commented out the rest of the shadow code would never even check the points, I uncomented it, about to test it, but even if this works it isn't going to be very impresive, you may see a slighty dark smug on a ship were a shadow should be, the effect would be mostly notable when a fighter enters a capship's shadow
