Exclamation A weapons thing.

Something I have never seen taken advantage of in any Freespace 1,2 or TBP. Weapons that fire in bursts. This should be added to some weapons. Here is an example I made for Freespace 2, a Terran Huge Turret the shoots in bursts of three for the Orions triple barrel turrets. This could be applied to things like the EA Heavy Plasma Cannon 1. Use the $Swarm = X were 'X' is the burst size. Simple.

Have you actually tried that for real? Because all of the tests by Shrike, weapons MODder extrodinare, failed horribly. Sure the weapon fired in bursts, but its aim was about as good as a blind man trying to hit a barn on the other side of the planet with a stone.

Despite what I heard before, I did try some test and so far it seems to work. Further testing is required. This effect could be useful in a few select places.

Sorry Blacksheep if I offended you, but dont you agree that it was little too short? Or there actually are no point to make campaign without story (yes there are story, but I think it leaves too much in dark)? And dont you agree that missions are always build on ideas(Like I already said I saw that those missions had ideas, so I meant it to starting FRED2 users)? And that nothing suprising, it is actuallly really easy to predict what happens in EA-Minbari war, so my apologizes for that one. BTW my missions didn't has best of mine in them, it was six months before it when I started to use FRED2 again, matter's with computer.

Or was that all because of Sierra again, Team Fortress 2 perhaps?

...uhm...what? (check the missions again...I did not make any of them ).

I just said that you gave some tips for newbies to some old school mission designers...and...that that might have been not necessary....well...whatever...never mind!

Don't forget Lady Rose that this is only a demonstration campaign. There isn't enough room for a comprehensive campaign by definition.

Anyway, back to the topic, what could the team do to improve the mini campaign for the next release?

Actually, I still have some decent multi-shot turrets tucked away somewhere on my computer.

BTW Icefire, if you need proofers, I can help you out there (ever noticed how meticulously proper my posts are?)

I got the tables covered. We've been testing the $Swarm tag all day. I knew of the effect, but the previous tests that I had good account from showed horrible accuracy. Your post did give me reason to doubt that and so I tried it for myself. It works.

Lady Rose: I made 4 of the 5 missions in that campaign. I've been designing missions for 3 and half years now. I've taken part in the development of several group campaigns and produced two that were essentially my own or my own entirely. That was BlackSheeps post. Again, I said, those missions we threw together but let me tell you what we had to work against:

1) Time - The campaign we developed as an afterthought. I designed it to give the team a direction and a focus. It helped motivate and it got you guys the release as quickly as we could do it.

2) Balance - The balance of the ships shifted a number of times and the missions suffered somewhat. We also had a number of models change (when I started, it was an old StarFury model and the new one changed a few minor things).

3) Limiting Story - Without going non-canon, how many ways can you show the EA getting their butts kicked? Basically, I wanted a short, self contained campaign. It did what it was supposed to. If you didn't like it, fine, neither did I....but you don't need to lecture me on mission design or campaign development. I've done it before (Aftermath, Warzone, currently: BlackWater Ops, Over The Top, Machina Terra, and TBP).

The next campaign wouldn't have to be nearly so predictible if it's mostly EA ships vs. EA ships. Since the two sides are automatically balanced to a degree (a bonus in most civil war type missions) and the events taking place in the last half of Season 4 give the script writers some amount of freedom in how they write stuff, I'm sure things will be very interesting.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that one side doesn't have to have their big ships blown up over and over in an EA Civil War campaign. For once, either side could win. Sure, Sheridan had most of the victories but by his own admission (The Face of the Enemy; "We've lost a few. We just made damned sure nobody heard about it.") he didn't have them all.
