So are you folks feeling that because of many second-rate mods of immense size that Shivan vessels should be kept at smaller, but more detailed scales?

Am I correct that you'd rather have that as opposed to DaveB style "planetary surface" Shivan warship ideas?

Lightbulb Hey, let's look at this from a logical point...

Okay, now everyone's got very good concutions about the Shevins.

But let's look at some of these Ideas. Maybe the Shievns do have instulatoins, but what's to say that the Installations are not both, moble and stationalry?

How do I see this, well, let's look at a few points, we see that Shivens are not anything like humans or Vasudines. They looke like something that did come from a zero-G or less then a G place. Maybe they live in Subspace, but one thing is for sure, the Shivens work in passages that doesn't have a defined up or down. But they do seem to need such definements at somepoint, and it seems that the ships they use must be built some how and grown is . As for installations, how would they look? That's for another time

But then the comm Nodes do tell us that they use them, the thing with Nodes is that when i used, they can't be moved, or so it seems. As for the really big Caps, well, they had to have build them with an exoseketin struture.

Meaning that they have a struture that makes the shell, and then they work from there on the inside. That could say that it covers both sides of the arument.

As for the ships being part bio/metel. Well, the metel part and the Ninites I can believe, but then what's to say that they don't have something that like a bio-substanince that the Nanites use to replace and repaire with? That's a logcal concution, isn't it?

I think that a shivan installation would be sort of like a Meaglithic (made up word meaning "BLOODY HUGE") artificial planet like the death star only much bigger containing trillions upon trillions of shivans. Somthing like that anyway.

What I was trying to get across is that at nanite-level there is no difference between machine and organics, one is a silicon based artificial biological, one is carbon based and natural.

With truly advanced nanites, advanced fractals which simulate DNA (Synthetic Nucleic Acid would be used, SNA) would be used to code manufactuer, while biologicals would use pure DNA or RNA.

In the end, either way you have Biological Robots, biots (alright, I've been reading too much Arthur C. Clarke at this point )

Hoorah for EDust!

Anyhow, carbon-based would be preferable, make some nice fullerene critters.

Well let's see how many ways Vasudan has been spelled:

Vesudan

Vasudian

Vesudein

Vesudian (James Moores! Ohh... James Moores! )

Vasudiens

Vahsudan

Zug

Now I like 'Zug the best out of that, don't you?

You are saying that shivan vessels are made of nanomechanical components? Well, that is not as far-fetched as it seems, given that the ships seem to come out of nowhere (in production terms) and in a given amount of time they repair themselves. Mind you, the Sathanas fleet that caused that massive "subspace pulse" that destroyed capella may be countless millenia old.

And my theroies on what destroyed capella is as follows:
In the end movie, you see the sathanas' opening up some sort of "rift" in subspace itself and then "fired" it at the star which then destabilized the core of the star and the rest is history. It also may explain what some of that massive fleet stayed behind, they didn't have enough power to leave. The subspace rift could have also tried to pull the entire star into subspace and that's what caused the destabization i think.

And no, i don't think the ancients created the shivans, due to fact the ancients referred the shivans as "the great destroyers" which means, that the shivans either evolved that way or some other race created them, which may mean, that there may be other varieties of shivan out there, we haven't seen them just yet.
