Arrow

I would like a Fighter with a flimsy thin hull and shields but a cruising speed of 120 and burner max of 160-180. 6 gun mounts but en very small secondary bank(2X20). i modified a seraphis to fit the specs and it worked fine with the balance and stuff. so that shouldn't be a problem

Originally the Creon in Twilight was intended to match specifications such as that.

However, in the end the speed was reduced, manuverability increased, shields and armor increased to levels equal to the Herc2 hull wise and Shivan bombers shield wise, and reactor power decreased.

Within the public beta test, the vessel was applauded by many of the testers which were chosen at random from several squad wars squadrons. (some like the 79th and other persons/groups with cameos were on a priority list for the beta test)

Unfortunately, the more verbal elements of the main public did not enjoy the Creon due to the general belief that the ship has weak due to it's weapons reactor power being so low.

With proper power management, the ship is a nightmare, but in the end the extra shield strength is sacrificed for weapons fire to be used in junction with afterburner bursts and fast turns.

This form of balance is appreciated by some, but not by others. All the more reason for wanting opinions on what types of craft are wished for by the community.

jeez, what kind of player ship class do i want? hmmmmmm...........
How about a really nice strike bomber, one that could take a helios, maintain a decent speed a favourable shield and hull rating
decent primaries/secondaries plus a cool like would be nice as well. And no, no turrets.

Well... I want just the opposite. I want a sitting duck. A Big slow ugly bomber, with a massive payload, a few turrets, and strong hull/sheild. Not the Jotun, but on a very similar note. Something like a beta testing of the Ursa A big metal coffin.

The Boanerges and Artemis already meet the no turret but fast bombers with heavy shields.

A big metal coffin is a fun idea to toy with mainly since Volition did not build one in FS2. (the Ursa is an aging design despite it's upgrades, and could use more firepower for it's being almost the size of a small cruiser)

I'd like to see a dive bomber. Heavy armor and shields and not a lot of offense - except for a really powerful, unguided bomb. You'd have to get real close and absorb a lot of damage but if you managed to hit your target, you'd do major damage, maybe even take out a small capship with one shot.

Perhaps a fast bomber like the Athena with one large bay for bombs and a couple little ones for missiles, a fighter-bomber if you will.

I did these recently for my own campaign. some are pretty similar to what was suggested;

GTsB Scimitar - stealth bomber, 38m long (sorry 'bout the size)

GTF Claymore - light fighter, 19m long, 6 guns, 1 small missile bank, cruises at 85-90m/s with a (short) afterburner of 170m/s

Both are finished, although the Scimitar is not for public release (except for other campaigns)

How about a ship that's a bomber, a stealth, a space superiority fighter, an interceptor, a heavy assault fighter, and a beam turret fighter all-in-one!

A player-flyable transport ship. I've already created it and it's called the GTT Hunter.

Otherwise, how about a flyable missile? Like that movie where they ride the A-bomb as it falls to the target....

i want a nice big anti cap ship bomber.

it would have a large, but not massive payload of the largest warheads available, a single turret, and a a heavy sheild system.

the ships max cruiseing speed would be on the low side, but it would have a massive afterburner system. this would make the ship perfect for my style of atack, the shoot-both-barrels-at-point-blank-range-and-run attak

for the attack run, the player would reroute poweer from the weopons to the engines to favor speed and afterburner recharge when makings his run to the target, then reroute back when clear.

ME LIKES THIS IDEA!!!

Give the bomb a ludicrously short range and lifetime... but extreme power (just enough so that shields absorb most of it, but the player still has to get out of range before FOOM!)

Torpedoes of that nature are an interesting idea, but such a bomb would need to have it's loadout severely limited (one per hardpoint) mainly for it's not being used as a fighter wing eliminator. (though they could be used for light to heavy wing damage followed by fishes or Infyrnos)

Possibly give it a remote detonation (second button press), and a focused impact, so you couldn't use the shockwave to take out fighterwings instead - kind of a puncture weapon. I've been considering making a similar weapon myself.

I like the heavy bomber idea, where you have to cycle the power settings. That sounds damn cool.

I'd like to see a heavy gunship, larger than a bomber (40-50m), with around 16 guns, etc, basically to perform surgical strikes on convoys.

That's kinda what I was thinking of. I was picturing 1 gun mount and 3 missile bays. Two of the missile bays can only take one of the big mutha bombs each (that way you can't dual-fire 'em) and the third bay takes maybe five rockeye/harpoon types.

Imagine the Medusa

putting turrets on all the angles you can about 6-9 turrets, now you have something thats fun will keep those pesky shivans of your back some forward guns and a limited missile payload
