hm yeah i like the idea of vasudan haters finding the shipa nd convincing them to go to war with the vasudans - has just the right ring to it - entirely pluasable if we assume the whole vasudan/ shivan/ jump node/ spaceships things is real

Posted by KillMeNow on 03-14-2001 08:36 PM:

back to sol forces how about sheilded fenris and leviathans?? combined with a upgrade to there weapons and we have some contenders for the gtva ships

Posted by Snipes on 03-14-2001 09:40 PM:

man... when you get an idea, you stick with it...

too bad Kazan found out shielded capships are a no go...

Posted by KillMeNow on 03-14-2001 10:39 PM:

i have discovered problems my sheilded cap ships myself although not the one everyone else is having - my shisp loose there engines they just move along by some mysterious magic with no engines if it wasn't for that at least i could make my own missions and have sheilded cap ships

I reckon that Sol Should of discovered a new race(or maybe IT came to them).Sol couldn't of stayed nearly 33-34 yrs alone and nothing ultra-physco happened like the supernova GTVA had, except maybe Sol discovered something very powerful, and now the've sworn to destroy the GTVA for abandoning them.

"Well hellooo MR fancy pants,".Army of Darkness

Posted by Charger on 03-16-2001 08:20 AM:

sol forces could just think that all of the forces outside of sol are the enemy, afterall, they had a lucifer class get blown up just as its entering the system. they could have slid towards becoming extremally xenophobic and so they don't beleive that anything that enters the system could possibly be frendly. if you compare the overall idea behind the hecate class destroyer, it doesn't match up with either terran or vesudan design theory very well.

Posted by KillMeNow on 03-16-2001 02:19 PM:

surely the reason for the conflict goes beyond a galatic misunderstanding in that the sol forces didn't recognise the ships appearing through the node - would they ship coming through have hailed the sol forces

Posted by Charger on 03-16-2001 02:56 PM:

don't forget, theyv'e been sitting in that system for almost 40 years waiting for the shivens to come and get them, they could have developed extreme paranoia towards outsiders. whatever leadership has taken over the defense of earth may use this paranoia to keep control of sol. the GTVA ships jumping into the system may be seen not as a threat to earth, but a threat to their power.

This is my first post...but...wouldn't a simple radio transmission on a GTA frequency take only 4 years to reach Alpha Centauri? Sure...response times might take a while...but there could be back and forth transmission...unless the Lucifer debris crashed into Earth, releasing radiation that killed everyone and stranded all ships in the system to die long, slow and horrible deaths...just a thought...

Posted by KillMeNow on 03-16-2001 08:34 PM:

you have a point contact could have been maintained - certainly a warning that they were creating a gate to open the sol node - it must have taken more than 4 years to make

on the other hand maybe they did send a warning and the sol fleet was waiting in ambush for them to come through the node

Posted by Zeronet on 03-16-2001 10:10 PM:

Why are Sol hostile anyway. DO they blame the GTVA for what happened or something?

Posted by Zeronet on 03-18-2001 12:12 AM:

They might be called the United Earthian Confederacy.

Posted by Zeronet on 03-18-2001 12:28 AM:

Sol wouldnt be poor. do you relise how much resources are between mars and Jupiter. 60years if more than enough time to perform large scale mining operations and use the resources to build ships and weapons. Sol would be much better off in the long run than the GTVA.

Posted by KillMeNow on 03-18-2001 01:11 AM:

i got to agree - the gtva is just whts lefts of the colony worlds - the main players sol and vasudan prime were removed from the equation - a solar system has a wealth of reasources that would take forever to use up and they have more than enough people around considering earth population alone - then there mars the moons jupiter ans saturn - sol would have more than enough reasources to whip the gtva's ass all the way back to delta serpentis and beyond

I wanna do this:

Ummmm... if I do recall it is ET.

Sol may have quit the whole deap-space operation all together because they would be a likely target to the Shivans if they have a pretty good force.A force as good as Ribos had in FS1.

(Remember that they were like a fortress and that they were the one of the 1st to be taken over?)

That can expain why we dont see any capital ships guarding Earth during the last cutscene.

Besides, Sol would lack most of the resorces because they were cut off from the rest of the systems.

(But then again, they may have restarted the whole GTA again.)

I think the only way Volition can rationalize this seeming loophole is to state that there was some sort of interference or radiation or something between Sol and Alpha Centauri that prevented radio signals from getting through.

I like your idea, though... it's a shame that the set facts of FS2 preclude any possibility of communications with Earth over the years...

Hmm...interesting point. I agree that Sol would probably have more of an infrastructure and population, however...The GTVA is all of the Terran AND Vasudan systems combined. They have to control all of those systems, and their fleet must be large enough to maintain order. Sol probably does have significant R&D capabilities, but one would think that 30 years later, the GTVA would have been able to take up the slack. Just my opinion...that's all...
