If I remember correctly Homo Sapiens Sapiens appeared around 75 thousand years ago...

I remember reading somewhere that there is no such thing as Homo Sapiens Sapiens and the term was made up when it was thought that Neandethals were our ancestors. Now that it's known that Neaderthal man was in fact a seperate species they've dropped the last Sapiens.
That said I've only read that once and I could have got my wires crossed.

(I had heard the story before) I guess it means that Homo Sapiens Sapiens (if such a species does exist) must have been around more than 75,000 years ago.

Yeah. If you ignore all that there's no evidence.

If you want to talk about science Jamie I suggest you first try to understand it. I for one am not about to be swayed by the arguements of someone who claims that Alpha Centauri is 120LY away cause he couldn't be bothered to spend ten seconds on a google search. Your knowledge of paleontology is no doubt similarly flawed.

well, accually i think Wolf 359 is closer then Alpha Centauri.......i get most of my knowledge of sci-fi movies. lol

Like i get all my knowledge of Greek Gods from Xena and Hercules and i get the Egyptian Gods from Stargate......not real i know, but they base them on the accual myths..

Do some real mythological research...StarGate is actually quite good but Xena and Hercules pretty much destroy anything accurate about any of the greek/roman/hindu (what else am I forgetting) gods.

Sci-fi movie writers tend to forgo actual facts for story...they are hoping that people like you don't notice.

I've seen alot of people make posts to the effect of X will never happen. Things like there are definately no aliens absolutely ever its just impossible and faster than light travel is impossible and exporing beyond our solar system is impossible...at this point I'd like to remind everyone who feels so compelled to say these things of some other impossible things.

- heavier than air travel (ie. the airplane)
- crossing the atlantic to the 'new world' (ie. north america)
- breaking the sound barrier in an airplane and not coming apart at the seams
- wireless communication (ie. the radio)
- voice communication (ie. the telephone)
- sending a man into space was deemed impossible
- sending a man to the moon was considered fantasy

I had this wonderful quote of a 17th century duke or someone who proclaimed to everyone that flying through the air was impossible.

So...all of these impossible things, deemed over and over to be simply beyond our grasp have come true and the whole medium you are using to tell everyone that aliens and FTL travel is impossible was once considered impossible itself. Consider the past and then look to the future...

It is only considered impossible because we don't know how to do it.

Imagine how far we have gone in the last 100 years........very far.

We harnessed the Atoms, we created Stealth Fighters and Bombers, Radar is useless, even though 3D Sensors would make the Stealth Technology Useless since it scans in a 3D Dimension instead of a 2D like the radar.

Wolf 359 is about 11.5 lightyears away, Alpha Centauri is abput 3 light years. I suggest you watch better sci fi movies

Proxima Centauri is 4.2 LY away.

Alpha Centauri A & B are about 4.4 putting the average distance for the Centauri system about 4.3 LY

Barnards Star is next at 5.9 LY away.

Wolf 359 is the third closest at 7.8 LY
