Unfortunatly Easykill people will play UT for the sole purpose that alot of other people are playing it. Im not joking in the amount of people ive heard say "Ill learn to like it" I played it 15 minutes then hit uninstall. EXACT same game I was bored with 2 years ago with the exception of Bombing Run which is fun and all. BUT unlike RF there is no such thing as weapon balance, 1st its who has the bigger gun 2nd is aiming 3rd is dodging which is more or less jumping around like an idiot.

I think UT2k3 is pretty much crap. And I spent money on it. Only thing I'll probably do for it is map and mod.
PCs need another good game like RF or SoF2. Especially for us 56kers. Having to aim 2-3 seconds in front of where some1 will be is very ****ing annoying.
RF and SoF2 don't have that problem. Only problem they have is dying around corners, which I will gladly take over a unplayable game.

RF, SoF2 = Good, playable
UT2k3 = Bad, unplayable.

Your comments about UT2003 are so seriously baseless and pathetic... I love RF for Multi, but UT2K3 and even UT can own RF's sorry online multiplayer ass. Why? I'll list some reasons:

1). Red Faction online has so many cheaters it isn't even funny. If I had to choose between RF or Op4 in terms of cheaters, I'd definitely go for Op4.

2). Red Faction has a bland taste of weapons as far as being suited to multiplayer (read: horde the HMG and you'll win every match)

3). UT2003 has a highly immersive environment, not to mention amazing surface / brush effects. Red Faction obviously has Geo-Mod which is a first in the FPS industry, and very very good, but that is the ONLY perk that sets this game apart from any other FPS.

4). UT2K3 is more popular for online play.

5). UT2K3 uses a terragen derivative / based engine so that realistic shapes and meshes can be made without getting the dreaded "texture axis perpendicular to face" or "invalid solid shape" brush error. Now believe it or not, RF does NOT use anything like UT2K3 did... They did an excellent job of brushing canyons and other environmental objects, but they still appear to be "synthetic."

6). Easier Mod support (at least for UT). UT2K3 runs decent on my PC so I've been able to play at 20 - 30 FPS. For mods in UT all you simply need to do is open up a menu, change the mutator list settings, and run the game. I've not yet seen a mod for Red Faction... At least I haven't seen one I should say.

You're being biased in your opinion by weighing Red Faction as a better MP game simply because of Geomod or because it's the only MP game you're good at. I don't think it borders on Daikatana because UT2K3 is strictly multiplayer, and the only thing even SOMEWHAT reminiscent of Daikatana in that game is the environments in the levels you play.

Once again, biasing... We both know there are other games besides Red Faction that are good fun on MP. You people are seriously being bigots... Open up to different games. I thought UT 1 would suck until I played it... Now it's my favorite MP game of all time. I'd personally say UT1 is actually in truth more easy to figure out than UT2K3, but when I get a new PC, UT2K3 is definitely going on it.

I agree, I just recently received my demo disc for RF2 in the mail... I believe that Volition did not use all of the potential that was actually riding on this title... The demo reminded me WAY too much of SoF2. Also, the weapons so far only serve a single purpose... Kill. Anyone here play Op4? You can use the Displacer's (Group 6, number 2) Secondary Fire to teleport yourself to a different part in the map and at the same time kill any nearby "bystanders." UT and UT2K3 have the Translocator which can telefrag people, and allow you to teleport to where you throw it.

I am not in particular bashing RF2, as I thought it was a good game, but not very unique, just recycled Geo-Mod. I think they need to port it to PC if they want any success with this game. But what I meant by the top part of this post was that all the weapons have no tactical use. Aim. Pull trigger. Kill. This changes in games like Unreal Tournament and Unreal Tournament 2003. In Unreal, UT, and UT2K3 the Shock Rifle has a combo attack in which you shoot a plasma orb (secondary fire) and then shoot a shock blast (primary) at the said orb to cause a gigantic explosion which has a kill radius of about 12 meters. Also... For those not fortunate to have a good online connection all of the Unreal games so far have some type of Botmatch (UT2K3 and UT is made specifically for SP and MP, favoring MP as much as SP) to hone your skills on. Red Faction for the PS2 has "humorous" (read: not great) bot detail. The bots get stuck on walls or in pits, and are too stupid to figure how to jump out or blast out. What next? Bang you get yourself [ludicrous number of free frags goes here] points and all you have to do is wait for them to repeat the same mistake. Think I'm talking out my ass? Try using the flame pit trick for the bots on Warlords, and you'll see what I'm talking about (ask someone from the old VBB or myself if you don't know what that is).

Game types? UT is only hardcore killing or DM? Nope. UT includes a wide variety of game types including the famous Chaos UT and Rocket Arena mods, Last Man Standing, TeamDM, CTF, Assault, and Domination. UT2K3 has a new game called "bombing run" which is reminiscent of a soccer game, only... Now it is with guns.

Levels? I'd say UT and RF BOTH contain high quality levels built by highly skilled professionals. However, the theme can sometimes mean everything for how the developers intended the game to be played. In Red Faction, generally maps aren't stretched out too terribly much, but usually more of the compact kind. Unreal Tournament has two of the best CTF maps I've ever seen in my life: Lava Giant and Facing Worlds... FW is actually only about 1 1/2 the size of RF's Warlords though. Lava Giant however is about 3 or 4 times the size of Warlords.

Now since I'd hate for the "oodles of clanners" to come in and bash me... I'll name some of the advantages Red Faction has:

1). Geo-mod.
2). Interesting weapon features (Rockets that run out of fuel and come back to the earth due to gravity, IR scopes on the rail driver)
3). Solid multiplayer and fun levels.
4). Some servers that run cheat-mods for the client's protocol to run through are very fun at times, especially on some of the smaller and more compact maps where it is hard to spawn and live for more than 5 seconds. (Read: CTF Warlords)
5). Tactical use of Geo-mod in MP and SP alike. You can dig trenches arbitrarily in any "soft" brush and tunnel down to protect your CTF base or reach secrets.
6). Better-than-average netcode.
7). Nobody really hates it, I actually love the game, but UT more.

Well I guess that's more than my $0.02, but I think it needed to be said. Let the flame war begin...

1)Solved by 1.3 patch

2)LOL u horde the HMG and win every match you are playing N00bs. Seriously if the HMG is so good how bout you and me go 1 on 1 you can even have weapon stay so you can live with the HMG. We shall see how great it is. You will notice how none of the good players aside from +Allan+ and +RazorsEdge+ even touch the HMG if there is another weapon around. But well..n00bs like it. Personally if you think its so great lets go :P Im not even one of the best players but I can beat pretty much anyone who claims the HMG owns.

6)Um..20-30fps isnt running smooth......Sorry m8 50+is running smooth as fluid motion is viewed @ around 32fps. So 20 is well below that. And well Hive there was an easy mod for RF. It wasnt that the option wasnt there it was more that it was only halfassed implemented

Following: UT can be played single player...and you know whut I hated the Geo mod it lagged my PC to hell. But the fact that RF is more dependant on actual aiming then who has wat weapon makes it alot more enjoyable. Seriously, HMG's are probably one of hte worst weapons. Its horrifically inaccurate at any kind of range. Hunter was refering to 56k probalems with UT. ON my g/f puter its fine for me until about the 7th or 8th player then everyone skips frames on my screen.

I still cant get over how you think the HMG ownz. You made my day proving you are a n00b. Come on Ill even give you a week to hone yer skills with the n00b cannon. LOL the HMG owns BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

1.30 patch? Bah that'll be f*cking redundant in a year. There are always good coders, but then again there's always someone better.

The weapon balence in RF is great, as long as you know how to use the gun, u'll win with it almost everytime. It's one of the few games where the starting weapon is any good. In my auto-switch prefs I actually have the pistol above the HMG, mainly b/c the HMG sux. Hell, I think my baton is above the HMG, only things that aren't are the Flamethrower and Riot Shield.
In UT2k3 try killing someone with the AR, ok. Now try killing someone with the AR that sees u and is more then 5 feet away. It's almost impossible.

I've played UT2k3 on both 56k and LAN. On LAN it's fun. On 56k is completely sucks. Of all the games I've played online, RF and SoF2 have by far the best netcoding ever made. When it comes to online games, the only thing that matters is netcoding and weapon balance, UT2k3 has niether. SWAT3 and E&B netcoding come in 2nd. Followed by AvP2, Dungeon Siege, Quake (first one), and Diablo 2 LoD. Klingon Academy is ok but it needs patches to be more reliable. Elite Force and UT2k3 come in dead last. Oh yeah, and CS is somewhere around with AvP2.

Hopefully if RF2 comes to the PC it'll have all the pluses of RF1 plus actual cheat protection.

RF and SoF2 are the only games that have held my interest in MP. AvP2 would've been better had there been more servers with half-way decent pings. DS and Diablo2 were fun when people actually played them. SWAT 3 and CS are fun once in a while if I talk to some peeps from the old days that want to reminisce.

Im not being a bigot in fact I was looking forward to UT2k3 and was even more looking forward after the 927 build as I loved how it was a sports season. Then I played the final version and its like wow....It was delayed this long to do nothing but update the graphics? As for SoF2 that wsa a joke in my book, I borrowed a Key played online and never finished lower then 3rd in 2 hours of played. Sad being that I didnt know the controls, didnt know the maps, didnt know the guns, never played SoF much lol but i still managed to stick near the top. As per UT well it was much teh same I played the demo online a few times...OK 2. Finished 1st or 2nd every time. Challenging..Get the rocket launcher go nuts. Thats the UT way.

I played Quake 1 online and loved it because UNLIKE any of the newer FPS games weapons were reasonably balanced as I liked the Nail gun myself.

You can talk about your combos and what nots all day. But in the end you are still pointing and shooting. Does it make you feel better knowing youve completed a "combo" this aint Tekken 4 or whutever the latest fighter is :P

Flat out I didnt realise why I quit UT in the first place til I booted up UT2k3. LOL cuz I never played UT for almost 2 years :P

When I said the "bigot" comment I said that the people on the VBB are BEING bigots, not ARE bigots. Bigotry means sticking harshly to one belief or philosophy without even giving consideration to others. We're all bigots in our own way, but being a bigot in a game is kind of bad because new games come out all the time... However I'll cut my testicles off, stew them, eat them, and then shoot myself before I play Britney Spears...

The weapon balance is okay in RF, but I have not ONCE encountered a level that didn't have the HMG hidden away somewhere... Noobs tend to horde that and sometimes stat-hungry a$$holes like it too... I admit that on occasion I get pissed and start whacking people with the HMG left and right, but here are my favorite weapons:

(In this order)
1: Shotgun
2: Pistol
3: Submachine Gun
4: Rail Driver
5: Rocket(s)
6: Precision Rifle
7: Grenades or Mine charge
8: Heavy Machinegun

I agree with everyone that the HMG is not a good weapon to rely on... It is HORRIBLY inaccurate unless from an extremely close range. However when playing CTF I'd say hoarding it is okay, since that is the point... To defend your base. The rail driver, IMHO, is actually a very fair weapon, and gives the defending person(s) an advantage, because it is extremely hard to aim with, especially in Secondary mode. However, I think that servers that ban the Rail Driver are lame. Banning the HMG I think is lame too, unless people use it as a lifeline.

I'd be happy to play you in a game of RF... Though I think your "n00b" comments are pathetic and condescending... Some people actually do like the HMG more than others, and some don't. Some are noobs, some aren't.

I get easily offended when people bitch about the HMG. Its an easy weapon to use yes. But is it as unstoppable as you said it was. FAHQ no. If anything the AR should be considered the unbalanced weapon. 42 bullets which are insanely accurate at all ranges and fires faster then the HMG.

And anyone who thinks the HMG is unfair is a n00b flat out. I cant stand the people that bitch about it. IfI have a choice between a pistol and a HMG you better believe Ill take the HMG if Im tracking my flag down.

Why make fun of your grammar? You make fun of me allegedly being a "noob." An eye for an eye... You have your weaknesses, I have mine.

I get flustered, I admit, when people ONLY use the HMG, to be honest, if I had to choose between a pistol and HMG, I'd take the pistol... I despise the HMG... I use it very little unless I'm playing CTF, in which case, like I said, I'll happily lame it. My in-game name? [WDL]Laguna, just like this one. [WDL] has 2 different divisions right now... It used to play for Op4, but we decided not to support that anymore. Now it is Unreal Tournament and Red Faction... If anyone wants to join for the RF one they should talk to me.

The clan is new to Red Faction. I have beaten plenty of people in RF, some that are good, some that aren't. Am I supposed to quiver before you and assume you're god?

Level DM10 doesnt have a HMG Name is Anyway i think... Actually its my fav dm lvl and im not agaisnt the HMG in anyway.

I prefer AR b4 HMG (PR when my fingers arent 2 stiff) in a normal game but when lagging u can usally use the extra bullets in the HMG 2 kill ppl Snce i have 56k and played mainly on American servers (when im from the UK) then ima use it. PR is actually the most overpowering weapon in RF.
