I used to have a VBuliten board even if it was an earler edition.
the only ways to change the users profile is to change the text file the only ways to do this is to
a) Download it and change it manualy (files are numbered and only admins (not shure about mods coz i was never a mod) can see the users number. E.G. 00000001.txt)
This can be anyone who has access to the ftp facilitys in the volitionwatch server but they still need admin privlages to view my number, otherwise they could take ours searching for my file.
b) There is a script installed that changes peoples profiles, and only admins are alowed to access scripts of this nature, or this was the polecey on my buliten board. (I carefully used to folow the UK data protection act so admins did not dievolge sensatave information like passwords.
Note: It is advisable to change the directory of where the user text files are kept from the default, because this detures hackers.
(You should have done this allready coz it says somthing like in one of the readme textfiles you get)

1) vB hasn't used a flat-file system like UBB for as long as we've used it here.
2) This board does not use the standard permissions set-up. Any person you see with the VW "eye" could lay the smack-down on you

I got it from Mr. T vs. Harry Potter. Somebody over at HLP posted a link to it...twas damn funny. Now if I could only find that hyperlink I'll post it here too. Otherwise I'll have to wait until the gamespy server comes back up and Cobalt Starr gets the site together again.

and we didnt have the sense to COPY the files from the old server and PASTE them into the new instead of just suddenly moving them?
