Talk to any one in GTVA command and they will flatly deny that the Golgotha exists.

Posted by IceFire on 02-14-2001 03:23 PM:

GTVA Command: We have no information regarding any "Golgotha" or "Project Golgotha". This information was based purely on a rumor spread by peace-critics telling us we spend too much money on warships.

im thinking large space defence platform situated just outside the sol jumpnode?

Posted by DarkHorse on 02-16-2001 10:19 AM:

It wouldn't surprise me if the guys at Sol start building some really wicked capships armed with nuclear fusion warheads and the works. Think about it. One system. Alone. No idea if or when the Shivans are going to reopen the node and come in to paste them. Heck, they don't even know that the GTVA still exists.

Posted by Turnsky on 02-16-2001 11:11 AM:

They wouldn't know if the gtva existed due to the fact that the gtva was formed 10 years after the great war. They probably think the shivan must have gotten to the folks on the other side sooner or later.

I m one of the biggest fans of FS.

I think i ll FIGHT for earth and SOL.

ps: How can i be a volotion watcher??????

Posted by IceFire on 02-21-2001 04:41 AM:

Watch us watch them

Try Derelict, Warzone, and Aeos Affair from our Volition Watch archives for some great campaign action as well.

Aeos Affair is not for the faint of heart either.

May be the SOL forces think that the GTVA forces are like the movie Silence of the Lamb, and they are wearing human skins as suits, and once they get on Earth they will eat everybody! I've watched that and Hannibal too many times!

More powerful than the charon!?!?!? Is that possible? Darks arming the thing with very heavy weapons and if somethings more powerful that that it must be able to take a sathanas in one shot at 25% power

Posted by IceFire on 02-27-2001 07:03 PM:

Everyone is so convinced they are fighting for Earth

When Sol was closed, I beleive the Terrans strip-mined all of the planets they could to build up super strong defenses. They never would know if another Lucifer was lurking in the Midst.

I also beleive that the GTA would think that all the systems past Sol were annihalated. So as a last resort, they have super strong, hella crazy ships, (like Bobbaou's Thera )to patrol all portions of the System.

They may also have developed faster than light travel to expand to other systems. A jumpnode is not the only way to travel...

But when The GTVA makes way into Sol, expecting a friendly little planet, who is willing to join up with the GTVA, they encounter feirce resistance. There will be ships made with hella strong sheilds, and hella strong hulls, because >32 years of nothing will lead to alot of research..., and even though there may not be beams, there will be some super strong guns that can probably destroy a Lucifer very quickly.

They did have scans of the Lucifer, compliments of Alpha 1, and could have created a laser that fires a hella powerful shot, but only once every minute or so...

The GTVA will most likely conquer Sol, and all of it's fleet, but not without suffering heavy casualties.

Phew! That's a mouth full!

mmmm....respect....the forbidden fruit....

Well, think about it. Sol is just one system, while the GTVA controls 20+ systems, creating a powerful output of resources for warships, which doubtlessly makes their fleet outnumber the Sol fleet. Sol was left alone on the second Great War though and probably had enough time to research more and have much more powerful guns and ships. From my perspective the Sol fleet should have completely different ships from the GTVA because most GTVA ships were researched and constructed after the Sol jump node colapsed. I think that the GTVA should outnumber Sol forces, but Sol forces should have more powerful ships. Heh, that was a mouthful!

Posted by Snipes on 03-01-2001 09:47 PM:

Also, the Sol ships would look different, like Orions, and Leviathans. They didn't have the "new wave" thinkers and Vasudan input, that the GTVA did...

Posted by Asmodai on 03-02-2001 06:20 AM:

I think I read somewhere that most of the GTA's shipyards and manufacturing equipment WAS in Sol. It doesn't matter if the GTVA have lots of systems and resources, if they do not have the tools to make a lot of things its pointless.
Also you have a massive population with no idea that the Lucifer was destroyed, and so believe that they could die any moment. I think that will breed a very militant and determined people.
OK, now I havn't played FS1 yet (the shame!) but I expect most of the reasources of Mars, etc. to still be intact. Also, the population of Earth has got to be a dozen billion at least. Thats a lot of pilots, who may not like the idea of the GTVA trying to take over. After all, they were on their own for a long time, and I dont think the GTVA will want Earth to take control. Power hungry s.o.b's

I think I will fly for Sol. Just because it may be interesting trying to sustain the ideals and way of life that they must have adapted to survive for so many years.

Heh, and this way I'll probably get to dive-bomb the GTVA's shinyest new toy!

Oh, BTW, this is my first post. Hope ya like it.
