-- HLP down? (http://volitionwatch.papageorgefamily/vwbb/showthread.php?threadid=9849)

They would be going halfway around the world... If I wasn't as poor as I am, I'd do it just to see exactly how much it'd cost - I'd expect something somewherer between 1 and 2 AUD.

Not HLP, the dynamic4 server. I think the whole thing's not working.

Politards...Politics threads?

dynamic4 is working, for a change, and even PHP is fine. MySQL is getting killed. There's a difference there. As Sandwich mentioned, stuff like UBB would work fine now, only database stuff is forked.

And it could be the google bots, or gamespy simply lowering the amount of slots available somehow. Or it could be the dbase getting DOS'd, but who would bother?

Well, the error is a socket* error, so it simply can't reach the dynamic4 database, either through a DB failure or a connection failure. If the DB is on a seperate machine to the server - i.e. on the gamespy intranet - then it could simply be down to a failure there.

Quite possibly the DB machine is FUBAR-ed, and they're either not aware (hence not fixed), or they've had to take it down for maintenances and not bothered their arse to tell anyone.

*i.e. a hook into the DB to use SQL queries.....

The 'Too Many Connections' still seems to point to some machine (or process on the same machine) giving a valid error message, not just packets dropping somewhere in the great oceans of the inter/intra net.

True...'cept I'm sure I've had a similar error message (when I've been using remote databases) occur for odd reasons, like when I had the wrong access settings.
